exceptional entry level Barolo. 1st day, bright red fruit and then an unusual flavor (for Me), that I would say licorice-very tasty. 2nd day it was not special, 90pts.

this really exceeded my expectations, good acidity, red fruit, great value for an entry level Barolo. Drinking well now.

Light cherry notes on nose, a lot of acidity on finish. Even at this stage this is working well with food, but this wine is only just starting to open up. Will wait a number of years before opening another from this vintage

Nose Floral of roses and violet. Red fruity raspberry, strawberry and rosehip. Spicy star anise, clove, vanilla tonka bean. Tobacco leather long aroma Palette High acidity, tight fine tannins Long taste slightly spicy and slightly alcoholic bitterness. Same taste portions as aroma. Smooth and long light ripe sweetness. Cocoa and chocolate in the background. Conclusion Decent but still accessible and is still primary fruity. But can definitely be saved. Drinking well now

Hmmm Drunk over three nights. Night 1 was underwhelming Night 2. Unremarkable Night 3. Very smooth and moderate depth. A nice wine, but left me wanting more. More spice, excitement on the palate etc I would think it will last thru the decade. Drink by 2030.

Surprisingly available already, this has nice body/soft yet evident tannin and good length. Colour is all Nebbiolo light brick, and there is no shortage of dark fruits, rosehip, leather. Best with food but actually quite nice on it’s own.

Drank this for dinner next to an '18 Damilano Lecinquevigne Barolo. The Damilano was fully ready for drinking, the Scavino still could use some time. Tannins have softened, but still a little close. Not a punishment, though...

Ruddy red with rusty rim. After a 2 hour decant, the nose exudes cherries and roses and earth. The palate is medium in weight, but lighter on the tongue. The fruit steps a little back and gives way to biggish tannins and medium acidity. It is grippy and abrupt in flavour, but perhaps missing a little oomph behind it. That being said, this is drinking well, but likely will improve over another 5 years or so.

Mörkt tegelfärgat men mycket genomskinligt. Tunna gardiner trots 14,5 procent. Hallon, smultron rosbukett, tjära, bacon, lite regnvått grus. Mycket kännbara tanniner, medelhög syra. Röda bär, blommig arom. Medellång eftersmak med markerad stjälkbeska. Doften roligare än smaken. Tarvar en matbit.

1st of 6. No detailed notes were taken, but this is in a good spot. Acidity seemed a bit high. Tannins are fairly smooth for a young-ish barolo. Fruit is a bit hidden, but is lovely. A bit of funk on the finish.

Some light brown tinge to the otherwise bright red and translucent colour. The nose nightlights rose, red fruits and some cooking spice. Medium body, nicely balanced, juicy acidity brings a long lingering taste. Bright wine, and a joy to drink. Lots of structure, and I am guessing this will only get better.

(Over dinner, Oslo). Signature Barolo aromas with plenty of rose petal, some cranberry and wild strawberry. Young and primary but with lovely balance. A superb palate with crunchy red fruits, fine but firm tannins and wonderfully fresh acidity giving it serious yet elegant structure. Fleshy and moreish with many years of drinking pleasure ahead.

Fantastic Barolo! Everything that belongs to a classic barolo, this one had from the get go. What came as a an interesting surprise was that after half an our of being decanted, the strongest aroma of mushrooms dominated the nose all the way until the end of the evening. The more time it got in the glass, the more minerality appeared alongside the fruity and earthy/mushroomy notes. Fruit was mostly cherry, blackberry, and a hint of strawberry for me. Together …

Paolo Scavino Barolo 2015 Wow this has changed very much for the better ever since the previous time I had it a year ago. Really needs a lot of air. It’s got a lovely floral complex nose, with rose, red fruit, hints of mint, orange peel, black tea, elegant. On the palate, dried red cherries and fruit, licorice, hints of dried figs, nuts, blackberries and plums, black tea, and hints of chocolate. Not sure if this tasting description makes any …

375ml, ensure you decant, starting getting into early mature phase. Of course young but the smaller bottle size makes the wine mature faster.

A very good standard Barolo in modern style. Quite dark for beeing a 15 year old Barolo. Red with a light orange rim. Rosehip, more dark than red berries, plum and oak. Tannins are still present, but softening. Long, dry finnish.

Clearly young into 2021, give this time. Light brown tinge into garnet red. Nose of beautiful floral and fruit. Well balanced and fine tannins which feel great up against fruit. Palate is dark berries cedar and leather. Some acidity in the finish, but just enough to lengthen and embellish taste.

Paolo Scavino Barolo 2015 On the nose, orange peel, mint, light thyme and light herbs, after a while some hints of vanilla sweetness and candied fruit, quite light, hints of tropical fruit and banana, menthol. On the palate, at first it was rather shy with some orange peel, menthol, chewy herbs, cherry red fruit, some elegance but not much mid palate - like it went directly from the fruit to the spicy notes of herbs mint and menthol.

Lots of development over the last 6-1/2 years, but far from mature. Still a very formidable wine. Classic Barolo with pronounced aromas and flavors of fresh roses; black tar; dark, tart cherry; briary blackberry; cedar bark; black, loamy earth; leafy, fresh mint; and wood spice, all wrapped around a chewy, tannic and acidic core. Full bodied, high alcohol, and some still, unresolved oak. Huge, dry finish. Requires both decanting and hearty food. This should easily cellar for at least another …

Interesting Barolo, a little tannin driven in the moment, needs some air. Not very complex but enjoyable. Modern style Barolo, this has nothing to do with these heavy classic Barolos, which needs 15 years to open up.

Very good for an "entry-level" Barolo. Big, tarry nose with sandalwood and plum. Mouth-filling and tannic. Some tangy blackberry adds a little spark to what otherwise is a bruiser. Shows both the mean side and the pretty side of Barolo.

Weekly tasting group #208; Old world 2006; an overview. (@ VD) : Beautiful bouquet with red and dark berries and cherries, vanilla, sweet spices and tobacco. On the palate cherries, red and dark berries like blackcurrants again, spices, vanilla and a touch of bell pepper. Firm and juicy acidity and slightly sticky and drying tannin. Really pleasant wine. Very early maturity stage now and around 2020 probably better.

Weinprobe 2.

RQP ***1/2

Raspberry and red cherry aromas were accompanied by spices (white pepper) and herbs (thyme, rosemary), with a well defined but still unintegrated toastiness. In the mouth it's still very rough, high acidity, strong tannins and full body. I could not wait for it to open up, so maybe it would mellow after some time, but it gave me the impression of a still unripe wine with good potential.
