We may have waited a couple years too long to drink this. That needs to be taken into account here. It’s very thin. Very, very thin. Not drinking anywhere near its price point at this time. Our fault for waiting too long. Vanilla and oak strongly dominate everything. It’s very acidic at this point. Would have loved to have had it in its prime. If you have this bottle, drink it “yesterday”.

2013 vintage. Purchased from winery in 2016. Drank at a Larry Carlton concert. Superb! Or was it a combination of the concert plus the wine? Who cares.

Light and transparent garnet color, gamey aromatics of leather, cumin, and spicy salami, palate reflects aromatics with some fading fruit. Has not aged for the better.

Consistent with other notes. The only thing I'd add is mouthwatering on the front end followed by a nice dry finish.

Out of magnum. If this had just a touch less sweetness and a tad bit more structure, it would have been a second purchase. Still pleasant, the kind of wine I would pour at the end of an evening tasting. As previous tasters noted, drink now, don't hold.

Plum in color fading to brown around the edges. Soft dark cherry fruit, soft forest notes, and spice with a light body. Very smooth, pleasant, and consistent across the finish.

Popped and poured, no decanting this time. Still fresh on entry, wonderful balanced acidity. Red fruit, iron, touch of earth. Fruit is still there. Easy 92.

A terrific Cali Pinot Noir that had a whole lot going on. Lots of earth, funk, and game meat blood. Both red and darker fruit notes too. After an hour in the decanter it opened up nicely. A pretty interesting PN with life ahead. It had muscle but at an advertised sub 14 ABV.

Spectacular wine and one of the best Pinots I’ve had of late. A fragrant core of plump, cherry fruit is layered with elements of singed earth, brown sugar, and a whiff of animale funk. It possesses beautiful density and presence, yet it floats across the palate with a satiny, mouthfeel that is augmented by a beautiful cut, tremendous length, and a touch of feral complexity. But for all of its sauvage-like qualities, it retains an air of balance, dignity, and …

2013 Foxen John Sebastian Vineyard is a very typical Sta Rita Hills pinot noir. A beautiful limpid red in color with a nose of sour cherries, black fruits, and asian tea spice. Rather earthy and gamey on the palate. This feels like it is in decline and I would start to drink any of these you have up.

Bright red fruit and just the slightest complicating suggestion of earth and funk as well as floral notes here. Medium bodied on palate. Fruit is not overdone or overripe, eminently drinkable. Decent length finish. Quite nice and would buy again.

Truly outstanding Pinot Noir. This is right up there with the best PN I've tasted from Foxen. Barnyard, earth & vanilla nose. Medium mouthfeel and a finish that coats your entire mouth and lasts forever. This La Encantada is not as overpowering and over ripe like in past years. Maybe La Encantada just requires more cellar time. Right up there with the best Julia's Vineyard from Foxen.

Drank over 2 days. Day 1 showing was amazing. Lots of energy, spice, and earthy goodness. Couldn’t keep my nose out of the glass. Day 2, not so much.

Liked this at release, but loved it with just 4 years on the vintage as it begins to really open the kimono and show its stuffing. Gorgeous aromas and fruit on the palate, with richness deceiving the medium color in the glass. For 2013, this is our favorite of the Foxen PN lineup, and they are all excellent. Fruit tones in the cherry range, with cinnamon spice and nice balancing acidity on the finish. Should stretch easily to 2025 and …

Typical Sta Rita Hills color, nose is spicy, lots of vanilla and mouth feel is light to medium which is a nice departure from some of the more weighty Foxen Offerings like La Encantada and Block 8 Bien Nacido. This is almost like a Baby Julias. It is not quite as refined as the Julias but nevertheless the weight is similar. This vineyard I hasn't reallys tuck out for me before so now I will need to pay more attention …

Latest in a long line of wonderful vintages for Foxen with this vineyard. One of our favorites, showcasing red cherry/wild strawberry flavors, Asian spice and the Sta Rita Hills' famous complexity. Finishes medium+, and addictively tasty.

Big bad cherry pie, right out of the bottle. Classic Foxen. Settled down nicely after two or three sips. Dry finish with great acidity and minerality. Went nicely with appetizers and kale salad (I know, I know, it's KALE again). Let this one sit another year in the bottle if you got it.

Funky cherry fruit. I rather underwhelmingly gave it a "solid." I think we were getting tired at this point.

Very expressive nose, florals, potpourri, tart cherry. Less tart cherry on the palate, more earthy backbone and sweet cherry, red fruit. Medium / big bodied. Great with mushroom tacos.

Full bodied Pinot with loads of fruit but balanced. Is structured perfectly to pair with meals or drink on its own. Had pleasure to taste side by side with Foxen 2014 Santa Maria Pinot, which is a completely different wine but equally enjoyable at a Foxen Wine event with Jenny Williamson Dore (Marketing/sales Director, Partner/owner, wife of Dick Dore).

Had to try early....give this more time. Abundant plum and berry with tarry under tones. Not overly complex yet. Consumed on its own after dinner. Seems it would go well with lighter meats and veggies.
