Real Companhia Velha Douro Porca de Murça Reserva

Re-visit this one, similar to previous note with a subtle sweet undertone I did not detect earlier. I am even more impressed compared to my previous assessment. Very well done.

Straight from the bottle to 90 points. Unbelievable price/quality ratio. Deep ruby, black core, slow moving legs @14% abv. Aromas of red fruits, oak, leather notes. Dry, medium(-) acidity, medium enticing tannin, medium alcohol and medium(+) body. Round palate of cherry, red bery, cocoa, leather. Balanced, well structured with great length culminating in complex balanced finish. Beautiful!

For the price an absolute steal.

Quite good overall, black currants, pepper, plum and raisin. Nice balance.

Opened another bottle that had none of the weird bitterness the last bottle had, so the last bottle was definetely flawed. Nice brilliant purple color. Intense flavor of red fruits, herbs, smoke, tabaco, dark chocolate, bacon and leather. Medium acidity, high in tannins, well balanced wine. Palate confirms the nose, great with steak (rib eye).

Dark red color, medium + tears, moderate - powerful nose of red/black fruits, dark cherries, spices. Dry, full body, medium+ tannins, medium+ alcohol, medium slightly bitter finish, better on day 2. Not sure if the bitterness gets better over time, if so it probably would be a great wine at this price point.
