Still pretty tasty. No tannins to speak of, but none of the overwhelming “cherry” flavors that I am tired of. Probably better a few years ago, but no regrets tonight.

Sweet raspberry, nice spice, an elegant and gorgoeus pour. Held up well, but drink up at peak for sure.

Second Sunday Group: 2008 Ken Wright Pinots (Fontina’s Italian Kitchen (MiY)) : Double blind. Similar to A, with tobacco and herb notes, but where A was red fruited, this has mixed fruit qualities. Here too there is nice tannin and acid, with darker fruit on the palate. Tea leaf, black fruit ane perhaps even coffee or mocha notes. Dark fruit continues on the palate, finishing with good length and balance. 91+ pts. My #2, Domino’s #3 Group #1, 35 pts

2008 Ken Wright Cellars Guadalupe Vineyard is gorgeous. The CellarTracker consensus was that this was dead, but it is very much alive and magical in the way only aged Pinot Noir can be. Boysenberry, dried herbs, licorice, tanned leather, and Asian spices. It doesn't get much better than this.

Perfect cork. Deep purple color. Pronounced fruit to this, heavy black cherries and black raspberries, almost candied, lingering licorice. Tart fruit has overcome the tannins and dominate the profile. Might have more in common with California Cab than Burgundy, but still a fun, big fruit wine. Drink now, while it still has the fruit.

Nice, but past it's prime. While stored properly, I found this pinot to have a good nice of red fruit, but the tannins are gone and the wine itself is somewhat one note. Not much complexity or body left. Expected more from Ken Wright and 2008....

Drank over three hours. Very aromatic. Fruity and a bit acidic, but well balanced leaning towards the fruit. I've held in to these for awhile and I can't decide if it's been worth the cellar space. It's a very nice drink and delicious, but not much of a thinker. Kind of like my note. ✌️

Tart and sour cherry. Not very good.

Popped, poured a small amount to get the air flowing and returned about an hour later. All the trappings are there for an 08 OR Pinot, though fruit does trend a bit dark - matches the appearance exactly. Nice enough but as my father in law noted, the wine was "predictably good" - nothing really popped about it, especially after the wait.

Light cherry color. Cranberry, Oregon "funk", tart notes on the nose; sour cherry and cranberry dominate palate. Tart, short finish. Fairly simple. Wouldn't buy again.

Popped and poured with roast pork loin . Fragrant flowery nose. Surprisingly dark in color. Dark cherries and dark plums in the mouth. Very concentrated, yet some nice acidity to balance it. Delicious wine. Fine finish. May still be a year or two before peak.

no fruit left. what a shame. ken wright was always one of my favorite wines, but they just don't last. i've probably dumped a half dozen bottles in the last couple months and the bottles i did drink had very little fruit left.

Pretty average for a $40 pinot. Expected a lot more from this producer.

Clear dark ruby with a nearly black core. Spicy, rich nose. Delicious red current flavors, long finish. At the very tail of the finish you pick up a hint of tannic bitterness which I actually liked: a masculine style of pinot noir.

This is tasting fabulous with flavors of tart cherry, red fruit, earth, spice and a little mineral. It's bright and well balanced with rich layers and a long slightly spicy finish. This is a very tasty version of the 2008 vintage in Oregon and Ken Wright's wines. This is ready to drink now.

Drank over five hours. Initial aroma upon opening was wonderful. A little oaky and earthy. The nose closed down until hour five. Sour cherries, ripe strawberries and a liitle spice on the palate. Finish is nice but a little too acidic. I've waited this long to drink these, I think I will wait another year at least to drink the rest.

Definitely fleshing out with some age; plum, sour cherry, spice box; silky with a great mouth feel; definitely has something that grabs your attention but hard to put my finger on what it is, perhaps great balance.

When I last tasted this wine 8 months ago, it could have been an off bottle, except for the nose. Or, more logically, it was closed and has now transformed into a more intense wine in the mouth. The aromas are again complex with conspicuous cherry, red raspberry, floral perfume, forest floor, spices and cigar box from the oak. Flavors of cherry, red raspberry, forest floor, spice. Big, rich and intense fruit. Nice balance and structure. The finish is now …

Very nice fragrances of roses, light bing cherries, raspberries. Palate had prominent sour cherries and raspberries. A touch sweeter than I expected. Nice smooth tannins on biting finish. A very traditional, elegant Oregon pinot.

Just had to see what this was all about. Excellent multi-layered pinot that moves from cranberry to cherry to flowers to spice wiith some tea leaves on the finish. Silky and smooth with a firm acidic backbone. Full of finess....glad i got my hands on this stuff. Well paired with Tuscan grilled veal chops.

Nice nose of pomegranate and raspberries. Wonderful expression in the mouth. Sweet on the attack, with well behaved tannins, which help to define the structure. Raspberries and strawberries are evident. Finish is good and round. No angles to deal with. This wine is "top drawer". :0)

Impressive density and intensity on this wine, combined with the lower alcohol, this drinks pretty dang good already. Firm structure is present in the finish but paired with the intensity of the flavors on the palate, it shows decent balance which helps provide a good, long finish. Enjoyed this out of 1/2 bottle along side three other 2011 Ken Wright Pinots and this was my favorite of the bunch.

See notes from 8/12/2012 except that the wine is really entering its prime now. Depth, layers, nose and finish are wonderful. (Doris 92, loved this wine. Bold, layered flavors, well integrated and balanced tannins)

A medium-dark ruby color; bright and clear. Fairly complex aromas of cherry, red raspberry, cranberry, dustiness, spices, and cigar box from the oak. The cranberry seems to blow off after a period of time. Flavors of cherry, raspberry, and spices. In the mouth, a delicate and subtle texture. Decent acid and structure. The tannins are mostly resolved and integrated into the wine. A medium finish. A pleasant pinot noir, but not especially big. This wine pairs quite well with steel-head …
