[Restaurant purchase] At restaurant Zoldering*, Amsterdam. PnP and then in carafe. Needed some air. Still tight, not the most forward Brunello. Definitely sour cherries, serious tannins and good acidity, missed some complexity

Decanted for three hours. Very tight and unexpressive at first but gradually opened up. Quite complex, with notes of cherry, plum, tar, tobacco, olive, and mild spices. This is still very primary and I am very glad to have another bottle to cellar away for at least 5+ years. As mentioned by other reviewers, PnPing this bottle is probably not the best route. Patience is a virtue in this case: the two glasses I saved for the following night were …

So I have to disagree with the prevailing sentiment here - this was an excellent bottle of Brunello. From magnum - incredibly tannic when opened, but with lots of fruit and acidity to support it. Decanted 3 hours and drank over the following two. After a decant this was beautifully balanced. Brick red, concentrated, and full bodied. Dark cherry and raspberries lead, followed by cedar, tobacco, leather. I must stress that this is not a PnP bottle. It needs some …

I agree pretty much with tasting note from RobMCL920 … nose is nice ; but end with aggressive tannins not very nice and don’t think it has improved over the past 2 years Not what I expected after delicious 2010

Definite brown tinge, but NOT old by any means. Tobacco, stone fruits with a hint of black cherry. Very smooth finish.

The wine looks ruby colored with slight purple to it. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like prune, stoniness, petrol, mineral, cedar, vanilla, black pepper, leesy and black currant (cassis). It tastes like strawberry, raspberry, black pepper, cinnamon, petrol and mineral. The body is full. The wine has angular texture, can lean down for another 5~10 years. The wine finishes long. The wine has 4 acidity, 4 tannin.

From magnum. Wow, what a nose! Earthy cherry fruit soaring from the glass. Totally resolved on the palate - drinking very well. Better on the nose than the palate, but all in, pretty delicious.

On the nose, I found dried dark red to black cherry fruit, sweet spices, and fresh herbs. On the palate, the wine was more powerful than elegant, with dried plum, thyme, and sweet spice leading into drying, aggressive tannin toward the back end. It’s hard to see this maturing into anything particularly exciting.

Decanted for an hour. Aromas of cherry, orange peel and darker fruit. Well integrated tannins. Was a fabulous pairing with chicken with morells and confit cabbage. In a very good place right now.

Wine seemed a little off-color for a 2011. A tad brownish. Cork looked fine. Smell and tasted fine. Good fruit, smooth, balanced wine with clean finish.

Ninth vineyard visited on my 2017 Montalcino trip. Excellent wine! Ruby red and slight brown color with soft nose. Subtle first taste but with full body and underlying complexity - cherries, strawberries bursting out. Long lingering finish, slight tanginess, barnyard and earthy taste. Wonderful!

Had full bottle for dinner vs my tasting last may. Slight calibration down but still an excellent wine - softer but more complex first Brunello taste, smooth finish with hints of oakiness that aging will bring out

Ninth vineyard visited - Le Ragaine on my Montalcino trip. Le Regaine base Brunello was top in a blind tasting I did in December so I had high expectations. Stronger aroma than the base Brunello, some complexity already, medium hue. Stronger first taste, more bold, oranges, cherries. Very smooth finish, lingering, a bit of smoke. Love it, excellent, one of the top 2011s.

A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy) : This is not yet released. It was cool to try this after barrel samples of 12, 13, and 14. I wish there was a 2010, but that was sold out. Ruby/purple in color. A much deeper nose. Country air, sour cherries, cherries, tea, sage and mint. On the palate, the fruit is intense and ripe. Tight layering. Lots of cherries but also a lot of complexity. Nice finish. …

A week in Tuscany (and Lots of wines); 10/19/2015-10/21/2015 (Tuscany, Italy) : This is from a barrel sample. Ruby/ clear and bright. The nose is very nice with cherries and sour cherries. Still a hint of yeast. It has a wonderful creamy texture. Silky cherries on the palate. It seems 2012 is good not great based on winemakers comments, but more often than not, I was impressed. Certainly over the 08, 09 and 11's that were prevalent in tasting rooms …
