From 375mL. The “Rosé de Saignée” pours almost a fuchsia color with a transparent core and a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe strawberry, raspberry, red apple and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with low tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Round and rustic in style. Lovely. Drink now. Disgorged February of 2023

The wine has a beautiful rose color. It has a fruity nose and red berry fruit on the palate, plus some earthiness and nice minerality. This bottle was disgorged in 3/2/2022. It is quite dry and balanced and I would like light bodied with a clean, fresh finish.

Again returning to this a couple of years on from my last TN. This bottle is from Lot17732, disgorged on 26/6/2023 with 6.5g/l dosage. After a little air to settle down, this is very quaffable: some slightly sweet cream and tart red fruit on the nose; the palate is crisp, well balanced, with those same unripe strawberry and cream notes, perhaps a little lightweight; the finish is clean and a little drying in the mouth. Magnum, lot 06131, disgorged 2/3/2023. Light orangish pink color with a lingering mousse. There’s nice depth to the bouquet with cherry, melon, biscuit and carnation aromas. Medium bead. Flavors of red apple, melon and dough across the palate; soft acidity. This is drinking beautifully tonight. (B&D)

Did not take proper notes. PnP. Enjoyed with oysters, fried shrimp, lobster roll, pickled veggies and fresh fruit. It was quite nice with the oysters, but not exactly fireworks...quite nice with the lobster roll and pickled veggies as well. Fireworks with strawberries (no surprise) and anathema with blueberries (somewhat surprising). Aromas of red cheery, citrus, and green flower buds, hints of minty herbs and tallow, a little brioche and oysters too... powerful and bright on the palate, incisive acids, beautifully herbal, very fine mousse, very persistent, slightly grippy, rather salty and stony, cherry and citrus linger nicely. Love it.

Jean Vesselle Champagne NV Brut Rosé de Saignée: Cherry red. Deeper in color than many saignée. Strawberries with a hint of Twizzlers. A Touch off dry, candied strawberries and smooth, moderately complex finish. Enjoyable with gyoza.

Patio Season Begins (All Saints, Mpls, MN) : Ultra pale pink color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was a wonderful discovery. Delicate red fruits, fine lemon zest, very tart and lively, excellent mineral definition. Love the style, offering this pretty mix of refinement and finesse while not sacrificing flavor and nuance. Made me seek it out. 93+pts.

Purchased at auction, disgorged 4-10-2021. Very very nice. Pale rose in the glass, dry wild strawberries, smooth and clean, almost buttery finish. Excellent 92/93

Disgorged on 15 Feb 2023. Lot 04631. PNP into Schott Zwiesel Burgundy glass (“Leaf” day): Pale rose to the eyes. Authentic classic Champagne style with hint of red berry fruits, caramel. Well balanced and superbly well integrated on the palate. Well judged Brut in style. A great style to have and can pair well with almost any type of cuisine. 94 points.

100% PN Crazy ruby color dark for even Rosé de Saignée Champagnes. Ripe cherries, ripe raspberries, fresh tarragon and limestone on the nose. Medium intensity of aromas. Possibly my favorite rose Champagne of the year.

The wine has a beautiful amber color. It has a fruity nose and red berry fruit on the palate, plus some earthiness and nice minerality. I think it is a really nice Champagne and I would definitely buy it again.

100% Pinot noir. Amazing dark color because of the saignee method. Nose, bubbles and finish is superb. One of the best quality / price value for a Saignee rose. Will buy this again.

Almost rose in color. Baked pear, brioche and some hazelnut on the nose. All of this is in the mouth, in addition to rhubarb, apples, and a hint of tartiness. good persistence. Very light bubbles, a bit too big.

Opened by BillHike. Always a pleasure to drink. Pale orange pink color. This had a very fruity candylike and expressive nose. Aggressive bead. Well balanced with strawberry and rhubarb notes. 92 points.

Absolutely fantastic! Delicious!

Salmon-pink core with orange hues, raspberry, strawberry, red currant, chalk, red apple, moss, some thyme. This is full and soft, but with plenty of acidity and minerality, all Pinot Noir.

Aroma in the glass was pleasant, with red fruit and a touch of honey and flowers. The palate had more citrus, like grapefruit or blood orange, and some nutty notes. The intensity and length were nice. My only real problems with this wine was a distinct sour quality, and a pronounced taste of alcohol, more akin to a high percentage red. Those issues left me feeling like this wine was out of balance and made for an uneven overall experience.

Dark color for rose. Medium nose shows white flowers, lemon zest, light brioche, cranberry. Palate is quite dry, balanced against light fruit tones of strawberry, raspberry, orange peel, more fruity feel in the finish. Tasty and good price point for the region.

Salmon in color, with an unusual floral nose. This opens with notes of orchard fruit, citrus zest, and flowers with some salinity. Moderately dry. A very nice quaffable champagne.

While not the most exciting, this was round and pleasant. There wasn't much blanc de noir character here and little, if any, steeliness. You can also tell there's some RS here, and even for brut i'd imagine this is on the higher end.

Disgorgement 6/27/23. Very pink. Pronounced berry with raspberry and red currant. Finish with good minerality. Autolytic whiffs. Very tasty, though bramble may be more suited to aperitif than substantial food.

Coming back to this wine after a few years... this bottle disgorged 27/4/2023 with a dosage of 8.5g/l. Briefly, it's red fruits, quite minerally, drying on the finsh, not cloying, but rather thin and one dimensional; little weight and no complexity on the palate. Fine as a party wine, but a bit pricey for that at the ~US$47 that I paid.

first wine from this producer. Disgorged 19Jan22. Ginger, persimmon, pear, Granny Smith apple. Little richness in feel on the finish. Good value for the price for a weeknight bottle.

Very nice, almost like bubbly red Bourgogne. Notes of cranberry, cherry, grapefruit, a bit of earth. Juicy finish.

Did not take proper notes. Wine was a rich straw color with a fine, persistent mousse. On the palate, it was a bit lean...expressing green apple and biscuit. Medium length finish of green apple. I intend to wait a few years before opening another bottle to see how it develops.

Vesselle is such a solid RM. This is a classic expression but not at all boring. Great acidity, lots of minerality, lemon, caramel, brioche and with a pleasing bitter-free finish. Drank over two days with no noticeable decline.

Deep red cranberry color, a bit simple but enjoyable. The saignee seems to have brought out some grapefruit elements that were surprising to me. Just enjoyed as a half bottle toast so I didn’t have time to see it evolve. 90-91

Beaujolais Comparative Tasting (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA) : Deeper color; musky cherry and strawberry, woodsy, medicinal raspberry on the palate, a little fierce, needs food to tone it down.

Jean Vesselle Champagnes with Delphine Vesselle (Dig Wines, San Francisco) : All Pinot Noir. Dosage 9 gram/L. Medium pink, much deeper than the Œil de Perdrix. Medium weight, black cherry, some tannin. Very good.

VERY dark pinkish/red. Mildly aromatic of red fruits. Red apple skins, strawberries and red cherries. Very full bodied and tannic. This is more akin to a light sparkling red wine than Champagne.
