After 2 hrs of decanting, it's still very tannic and it's hard to look past the tannic grip. It probably will get far better with aging, like most of the aglianico grapes.

An incredible value and will outshine many expensive Italian blends. Nose is subtle with cherry, raspberry and anise notes. Medium to full bodied with an explosive burst of bright acidity brining earth, leather, tar, plum, and black cherry flavors. The finish builds with blue and black fruits, then lingers. This would score higher if the nose was more pronounced and the mouthfeel more developed. Sadly my last bottle, but will seek this out again.

Good enough. Appealing ripe, dark fruit nose with a tiny bit of funk; fruit less expressed on the palate which has a good acid/tannin balance but is otherwise fairly flat, with subdued fruits, some balsam as well as a bit of that funk. Drinkable enough as a dinner wine with hearty Italian fare, but otherwise not that interesting. I had decanted it on the first day, which probably helped somewhat, but it continued to flatten out rather than open up …

In a nice place with attractive red fruits sitting behind some jangly yet balanced herb, spice, balsamic, gritty tannic, and good acidity. Lots going on in a way that seems both rustic and well proportioned. Not sure this is for everyone, but a hit in my house tonight.

Needs decanting and lots of breathing time to soften the tannins. Once there this is a decent wine, especially for the price.

Red fruit, balsamic, rough alcohol, and harsh tannin. Thin body and not a lot going on. Medium acidity.

Very good for the price. A little rough on tannins as you open the bottle, but gets smoother a little after.

Red berry and pastoral nose with floral, leather, and sweet nut characteristics. Solid, dry, and spiced palate with a medium-bodied, savoury finish. 4/5

Brick-purple hue in the glass with no rim variation. Reddish tearing on the rims. Bold nose. This has intense aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, mushroom, and ripe plum. Spiciness is very present. Palate has bold and intense flavors - huge black fruit, licorice, dark chocolate, moderately firm gripping tannins. Low alcohol content, with a very dry start and finish. Acidity pops in on the finish; almost ambushing you.

Ruby. Cherry, plum, some earthiness to it. High tannins, high acidity. Went great with lasagna and pizza, but needs food at this stage of it's life. Medium finish.

Very tasty immediately after opening, but got better as it aerated. Strong notes of black raspberry, cherry, minerality, graphite, and vanilla cake. Wine was medium bodied, and acidity was medium but also restrained to where none of us felt like we were getting heartburn. This was very enjoyable and has aging potential for up to 5-10 years I’d say. Went extremely well with authentic Italian food, and a good value even at the $20 I paid.

Updated - tried this wine again. It is not good. Both on the nose and palette it is skunky. What decent flavors it may have are masked by the off putting nose and bad skunk. Italian table wine. Better with food. A bit skunky and a little acidic on the back end. Tangy berries. Not on the repeat list.

Every day dinner wine. Medium body, rather tannic on the pnp but improved in glass, nice acidity and finish. Bramble, Black fruit. Under $15 bargain.

Good. This PnP is already in a nice place, though to be sure, it's a simple table wine that's well grown, transparent and certainly food friendly. Medium bodied, dry, integrated, just-ripe tannins, avg complexity and length. This is an ideal bistro wine as I find just enough freshness and acidity to complement my meal without overwhelming it in any way. Solid daily @ ~ $15. The 13,5% abv is well integrated. Easily highly recommended , drink now thru 2029. https://www.ItalianWine.blog

Another sub-$15 wine from Costco. Here, notes of black and purple fruit bramble lead the way, followed by hints of char and volcanic soil, oak and vanilla. Dash of raspberry on the back palate as the wine opens up. Pleasant enough weeknight food wine, 88-90.
