Chiusa Grande Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Perla Nera

Drunk over two days. First day, smoky, powerful dark red berry skin. Seemed a touch over-rich and out of balance. Day two, much improved. darkness remains, but much sleeker and in balance. Has a wonderful herbal, stemmy quality to go with the big fruit, and clean tannin profile to round things out. A very good Montepulciano, with time to spare. (NB: I work at a store selling this wine.)
