I was planning to take this wine to our wine group usual blind tasting, but then checked CT and noted the 84.7, and decided to open with lunch. To me a classic Chianti Classico with 20 years age, cedar, leather, tobacco, still hints of cherry in the background along with some oxidation, but overall a really nice food wine. I should have taken to the wine tasting

Pop and pour, fresh and still alive. Faded quickly after being decanter for an hour. Drink up.

Decent structure, with overall elegance but fading fruit. Drink up!

Drank great but I wouldn't wait too much longer. Fruit is fading.

Nice tobaco nose with amazingly fresh fruit. Rasberries coming through. Seems like more merlot then the bottle indicates

Fading from the pleasure of earlier bottles, this still is a most pleasant quaff. I think it's a great US answer to Chianti. Softer, richer, lacking the distinct edge of pure Sangiovese. Also a good bargain.

Okay, I was a bit hard on the wine last time. Still not great, but it has come together and is on it's downward slide. Slightly musky nose with little fruit. Mouthfeel has improved, but lacks in fruit and has a slightly minty, metallic finish. Rim of the wine is amber with a white edge. Definitely doesn't live up to WS's rating.

Dry and dusty tannins with sharp, bright berry flavors. Somewhat smoky, but not well integrated.

Cherries, herbs, and some nice sweet red fruits, but rather simple. Not much structure, but a very nice quaffer.
