Chocolate, dark cherries, a hint of meatiness? Great texture while being a being a pretty generous (in terms of warmth) aussie shiraz while only being 13.5%. Great drop but probably spent too much. Plenty of great shiraz out there at a more reasonable price.

Lovely old savoury added acid Aussie Shiraz but I’m being mean with points because this doesn’t come across as Hunter. 13.5%, screwcap

Divine. Classic hunter character. Some red Spice and mulberry on the now. Palte is savoury, spicy, linear. Great length.

Took its time to open up (slightly). Very young, monolithic, densely packed savoury dark fruit, completely integrated oak. Excellent acidity. Plenty of nuance in the shadows but far too early to make a judgement. Deceptively easy to drink, as all great wines.

demonstrating its evolution in bottle, this offers graphite notes, perfumed cherry, foraged blackberry, a twist of spice and black pepper. The tannins are smooth and there’s impressive complexity and concentration.

Even at this young age and just released the balance is showing. shows the best of this vineyard. Way too young to be drinking it to fully appreciate the quality and potential of the wine.

Had the opportunity to share a glass at Brokenwood's cellar door in the Hunter Valley as part of an exlusive tasting session. Bought a bottle home with me, maybe it should have been a case! Smooth and easy to drink with great colour. Described as a typical medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz, but I generally find Hunter Shiraz quite soft. I'd liken this more to a medium Barossa Shiraz (for which I believe Brokenwood do some of the better full …

Pronounced nose - bramble, blackcurrant, vanilla, clove, red cherry, sour cherry, gasoline, wet leaves. High acidity and grippy tannins, medium alcohol, full bodied. Long finish

Meh. I'm not sure whether this is proper or not, but there's nothing clearly incorrect, so I'm going with not. The fruit is very dark, with some menthol, iron, and saline qualities. The palate, while clean, has a coarse and bitter quality that doesn't quite match the rest. It also clips the wine to the point that it comes across as hollow. Tannic. I think a decant might help, but I worry about the fruit falling apart. This might actually …

Moncur Syrah/Shiraz (Bistro Moncur, Sydney) : perfumed berry and peppery notes…rich plum over the berry and peppery notes, tight but silky tannins. Time required but quality obvious

Smells more like a gravelly graveyard than other vintages. Relatively sweet fruit but somethings not quite right, like a mumny with damp bandages stomping on grapes (or tiny fruit skulls).

Aussie night!!! (J&B Cellar) : Tasted blind alongside three other great wines. My blind notes: deep purple color. youthful appearance aromas of smoked meat, rich blackberries Mouth full of fine grain tannins, meat flavors and plenty of fruit. Medium finish Ranked 1/4 in this flight. (IWC 93)

A very complete wine with soft chocolate, ripe red as well as black fruits, beautiful and soft tannin with a good bite, pleasant oak and a long finish. Already a pleasure and it can last at least another 5+ years.
