A superb village-level Burgundy. Wish I had bought more.

Read my other notes if you want taste and smell. Summary: stank when young, velvet when mid-aged, on the heavier/more expressive side for burg. Opened my umpteenth bottle of this vintage tonight. The central theme is that, year in and year out, with food or on its own, this is my shining star of ridiculous value satisfying pinot. Yes, you're probably not getting transcendental wine. But for two figures you are getting rarely-miss, great times, great memories, great pairings, lip-smacking, …

Ripe dark fruit, but balanced and elegant on the palate. Definitely some licorice too. Seems like this would improve in 5 years.

Quite an interesting Burgundy. A little bit more intense than expected, but a very fun bottle (resembles Sangiovese a little bit). Felt like a hotter vintage expression. I would drink it again. Colour: medium ruby. Acidity: medium high. Tannins: medium. Finish: long. Aromas: cherry, blueberry, raspberry, oak, and some herbaceous notes.

Dark blackberry fruit. Fairly concentrated, but seems to be lacking a bit of structure. Fruity, easy drinking, and a bit simple. A little heady.

Similar to last note but tonight the nose is exploding with blue and purple flowers. This is the most floral this SKU has ever showed to me, over multiple vintages. The palate is very concentrated and ripe. Never a dull moment with the Mallard Serpentieres.

Gorgeous sweet red (and trending dark) fruit, delicate spices, with a "hotter" vibe (I don't mean alcoholic, I mean that often pinot can smell/taste like a cool breeze in autumn but this one is a touch closer to the hot ripening sun qualities of more southern reds).
