- Fresh bread, cigar box, red stone fruit, red currant, black cherry, leather, something wet and mineral and aquatic that’s hard to put my finger on. it's young.

Nose: Spicy plum. Palate: Lots of green pyrazines, tastes more like underripe cab franc than merlot to me; quite vegetal, blackberry bramble, muddy, green tannins. Over the next couple days, the wine does hold consistent remarkably well, but overall too underripe for my tastes.

This 100% Merlot right bank from the legendary producer château Angelous is pleasing. The 2020 Vintage consumed after five years in bottle is still young and fresh. Full of bruised fruit with a plum and iron rich palate. Chassis, blue berry pie, rosemary, and a touch of pencil lead. It shows only mild signs of being aged in wood. Some vanilla and caramel is present when first opening. This is not a bottle I would pop and pour. Frankly it’s …

PnP. Did not take proper notes on day 1. Wine was brash as ever. Day 2: Purple with dark pink edge in color. Nose of plum, red currants and cherries w/ a slight pyrazine note. Alcoholic heat is still noticeable, but its not spoiling the party like on day 1. On the palate: intense red berries, sweet tobacco, five spice powder and subtle pyrazine. Sandy tannins are perceived on cheeks, gums and tongue. Medium to long finish of red berries, …

2 hour decant in glass. Inky, nearly opaque purple w/ dark magenta edge in color. Nose of cassis, luxardo cherry, saddle leather, pyrazines and alcoholic heat. On the palate: cassis, sweet earth, sweet tobacco & five spice powder. Tannins are surprisingly well integrated already--perceived on gums and cheeks. Long finish of cassis, pyrazines and five spice powder with some wood spice as well. As mentioned by others, you smell, taste and _feel_ the 14.5% alcohol at this stage. I'm hopeful …

Drank at home, 375 mL format. First day very alcoholic, had a few sips only and then put into fridge. Second day more glass decant, not fantastic, but performing reasonably well given the price point (20 USD for 375 mL). Would suggest bottle decant for 4 hours +, or decanter.

Nice deep garnet colored wine with blackberry and other black fruit notes. Very spicy with some element of possibly pepper or other earthy tones. Fairly dry with a medium body and decent finish. Would drink again but probably would let it age a year or two more.

An ok Bordeau wine for a Monday night. Ate it with bbq chicken breast and potatoes. Nice powerfull nose, fresh fruit in the beginning of the sip but ending abruptly with short tannins. Almost hit like a wall. Better after 4 hours but really better when drunk with food.

Second time tasting this new wine from Angelus. In its second vintage and created in their new winery. This time was able to try it with a bit more air. I like it, but it is young and rustic and definitely needs food.

The DQ knows I am a big Angelus fan, but I've never had their 2nd wine, Le Carillon and had no idea they made a 3rd or 4th wine, til the DQ let me know of this one, yesterday. I guess it's only their 2nd vintage. Pnp'd once home after dinner. Dark purple in the glass. Nose of big, juicy dark fruit with a slightly vegetal green note, not pyrazine. Palate of young, juicy energetic but rather singular fruit and …

Hot and alcoholic, even beyond what you’d expect from the label figure. Not for me.

Really interesting ‘entry level’ wine from Angelus, made in their new state of the art facility for only its second vintage. Meant for drinking now but tannins still a bit to grippy for my palate. The fruit is there and exceeds what you would expect for the price point. Victoire from Angelus advised us to try it with a 1 hr decant and we will be blown away. Maybe will need more than an hour for me, the DQ, but …

Youthful red-purple with purple edges in the glass. Baking spices, leather, subtle anise, and rose on the nose. The palate is also spice-dominated with cardamom, black licorice, and some wood smoke, in addition to cherry fruit on the attack. Full-bodied with the acidity to balance. There’s also a “saltiness” from the alcohol level, so this went best with the tri-tip. This forward style is ready to drink. 91, 89, 90, 87 (sweet tooth)

Decanted for 30min, back to bottle for slow-ox, followed over a few hours. 90% Merlot, 10% CF, from Castillon Cotes de BDX. Initially was too fruit-driven and a hint of residual sugar. This changed drastically with slow-ox in the bottle. What emerged was a rather structured, balanced, terroir-driven wine. Fragrant nose of red cherries and cloves, some rocks too. Palate has some red currants and red fruits, touch of tobacco or leather, earth. Can't find the words but the palate …

Fresh, forward, vibrant, silky cherries, supple-textures and gorgeous sweetness in the fruits with just a bit of cocoa and savory, leafy herbs that add complexity and richness to the medium-bodied finish. Drink from 2023-2034.

A new wine from Stephanie de Bouard and Chateau Angelus, the wine shows a solid depth of color, the wine pops right from the start with chocolatey plums, black cherries, and licorice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple, round, and ready to go on release with its already delicious black and red plum, earth, fig, dark chocolate, and cocoa-tinged, silky-textured, glossy finish. 90-92 Pts
