granny smith apples, a touch of lanolin. slightly light/watery finish, but this may gain some weight. pure with greenish acids that have a soft texture. reasonably long finish, with green apple, grass, and again, a hint of the lanolin that i hope will begin to assert itself with time. certainly as the wine opened in the goass, a beautiful waxy texture. i think this may delight in time! 87+?

This is developing and putting on weight, but it will always be slightly lean with with steely acids. As it developed in the glass, it did soften and display a reasonably silky texture. This may never be outstanding, but it may very well develop into something of interest 85+?

{screwcap, 10%} Fairly pale straw yellow still. Muted nose with a touch of smoke, browning hay, some earth. Rather dilute palate, more watery than mature, with a little smoke, gentle lemony hints, a bit like Soave or a weak gavi. Has some Hunter semillon character but fairly unexciting. Light-body, medium acid, short/medium dry finish. No point in keeping longer.

{screwcap, 10%} Pale straw yellow. Bright grassy nose, squash flavours, mild, dry. Medium acid, although it does fade quickly, even if the spritz initial impact promises more. Has a slightly browning quality to the flavour too. Only light bodied, with a fairly short finish, it’s otherwise balanced enough. A bit four-square, but calling it disappointing would be a bit harsh. A fair wine. Will keep a few years yet, may evolve a little, but won’t win any trophies.

Varietally correct, lip-smacking acid, very lime-citrus, slightly oily texture (although not approaching lanolin). This is a reasonable example of Aussie Semillon that is currently a little too acid and two-dimensional. Veering towards the sour side, this is just a baby, and I hope it will develop (under stelvin) positively with time. 83+

Hunter Valley - 4 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley) : {screwcap, 10%, $28} Notes of gooseberry and grass. Straw, grass, lime juice, a bit chewy. Dry, light-bodied, oak-free, medium acid, short-medium finish. Was on sale in a 6-pack for $15-per; worth buying at that price – not for keeping though.

Whistestop Hunter tour (Hunter Valley) : Slightly dusty ,muted fruit - aromas of apples and lemons. On the palate it's juiciness turns exceedingly sharp very quickly The apple and citrus flavours finish a little quickly and there is a very slight metallic note. Meh.

Meerea Park Benchmarking Masterclass - 19 November 2017 (Meerea Park Cellar Door) : The nose is quite subdued, especially compared to the Meerea Park before it. This has more of a classic profile, tight and dry. Nice line and length and acidity to carry this well into the future. I enjoyed this. It comes off the Lovedale vineyard, so has a solid pedigree
