This �09 Saute-Loup, which is the friends and family bottle of Petrus, did NOT miss - wow this wine was a freaking treat. Nose is exploding with scorched graphite, smoke & earthy aspects and blackberry. A lot of these carry over to the palate but accompanied by such a powerful yet structured wine. Friends and family Petrus but don't know much more about it. Suffice to say it's a beautiful Pomerol that's a bit structured and quite young yet so not giving everything it has even with a long decant. Lovely layered flavors of black fruits, truffles and smoky minerals give way to a tannic finish with notes of graphite and tarpit. Obviously, quite rare to taste this so thank you Patrick Mata! 93+
