Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton

Nose of barnyard, red and black fruit, mostly cherry, blackberry, and raspberry, same on the palate, medium/big body, at it's peak, ready to enjoy, almost elegant, medium/long finish.

Mid-dark brick; earthy, animal nose; mid-body; balanced; tannins easing; rich stylish finish.

Dark purple; earthy animal nose; stemmy; complex; mid-big body; semi-chewy; long finish; needs time.

At Smoke, Oil, Salt: Blind--this was round with ripe cherry-raspberry notes and a bit warm. Shows the '03 vintage, but doesn't show its age.

Mid-brick; light wood, earth, cherry and floral nose; mid-body; to soft; good flavor; velvety, elegant finish; a little short. Definite food wine.

My last and drinking beautifully now. Color is still a fresh ruby and faint mineral. OSS with blue fruit. Palate is more fruit than structure and went well with roast chicken...

Best of a case. I gave it 30 min air in glass and it had soft but lovely aroma and laser like fruit and nice round palate. Elegant and deliscious w pan-roasted chicken. Juicy finish draws you back to the glass which is always a sign of a great wine Day two the flavors were even stronger more clearly Pinot noir without any deterioration....Really impressive and I regret not waiting on the other bottles

Tasting Group Dinner - Burgundy (Fugaise, Minneapolis) : Decanted for about an hour. This had a very off-putting, cheesy nose, followed by chunky oak and vanilla. Not sure what went wrong here, but an off bottle for sure.

KTG Does Burgs at Fugaise : Consensus was that this was flawed. I'm not sure of that, but it did seem painfully young. The nose had a stinky cheese component that blew off to reveal ripe fruit, tons of oak and some baking spices. In the mouth this is dark fruit, earth and oak in a fat, forward style. Compact palate impression, lacking a bit of acidity and medium length on the finish. It was hard to downshift to this …

Heritage: Oaky, dark, dry berry; big dry t’s, med. earth; good character after 2nd taste.
