Sehr gelungen.

Minty cherries, tobacco, and cedar notes are easy to find. The palate is medium-bodied, lifted, vibrant, and fresh, with a focus on its core of soft, cherry fruits, with their refreshing, spearmint finish. You can enjoy this early in life. The wine blends 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Harvesting took place September 24 - October 8. Drink from 2027-2040. 90-92 Pts

En Primeur campaign for the 2024 vintage Day Five (Bordeaux) : medium minus intensity aromas shows a little baked black fruit (oddly), herbaceous notes accompany this as well as some meaty underpin, baking spice. In the mouth it's quite green and unpleasant, tannins are chalky, grainy, hard. Nah.

En Primeur campaign for the 2024 vintage Day one (Ulysse Cazabonne) : Red over black fruits, sweet spice, a little cedar, very slight herbaceous notes. Sourly juicy on the palate, red hued fruits, drying chalky tannins, a bit of rinse and repeat for the lesser 2024 wines.

13% alcohol. CS dominant with the other three usual suspects as well, but I do not have the proportions. Long cork with no wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. The colour is medium to dark with next to no thinning at the rim. The nose is red fruited with a lot of vigour up to and including a pleasant vegetal note, this is CS for you; very pure and no sign of oak. Correspondingly fresh and juicy in the mouth …

Christmas lunch Magnum. Mushroomy, Margaux graphite nose with strawberry and cassis. Dry smooth and pleasantly medium bodied palate of red berries, tarry tannins with a persistent finish of cigar box and tobacco leaf. Nicely matured but lacking true complexity, this still made a fine accompaniment to Roast Beef (we took a year off the Turkey).

Fully developed, the wine is medium bodied, with a soft entry and a distinctive herbal character on the palate and in the finish, especially in the end notes. . Classic in style is a good way to define the vintage here. The wine was made from a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, which is the highest percentage used in the blend.

13% alcohol. The wine penetrates the reasonably long cork for 1 cm. Very deep colour. Rich nose of ripe dark fruit. The mouth is equally fulfilling, with a nice acid kick in the finish to enliven the experience. It would be a hard-to-please fellow who would not be wooed by this wine, which has an unusual richness, approaching that of a Pauillac. So much (once again) for the downbeat rating of the vintage by the critics (most of them anyway). …

Classic mature leftbank Bdx. Smoke, graphite, leather and tobacco. On the palate these's earth, spice and some dark fruit infusion. Medium body and a point. Happy 14th birthday, L.

A not-so-famous wine from a not-so-great vintage at age 14, anyone? Still, this was really charming and felt à point, beautiful classic mature B'deaux, and maybe one could also identify classic Margaux virtues - elegance and weightlessness. Nice surprise.

This had 33% merlot, 32% cab-sav, 30% cab franc - highly unusual in the Medoc (and similar to Figeac on the RB). The cab franc came more to the fore as the evening wore...as the wine became more overtly peppery it sorely needed food more and more. Interesting Margaux berry and floral notes. Open and expressive, finely textured. Pleasant but became slightly overwhelming without food when the cab franc dominated.

Work wine tasting - Triplets : Nicely cedary and floral on the nose. Some tobacco too, almost a sense of the Graves against the Margaux perfume; a herbal freshness. Quite dry on the finish in a traditional style, but enough fruit and depth for balance. Lovely nose, I keep coming back to this. ****

We ordered 12 bottles from Zachy's but only 11 arrived in the box. Hence one- off on this inventory. And that is too bad. Was great QPR for $20/bottle. Wish I had 1 more now!

Paarsrood. Kruidig rood fruit in de neus, rokerig leer. Vl van smaak maar niet 100% gebalanceerd. Wel zeer zacht. Deze wijn kan zo nog 3 jaar mee. 91.

Open 2 hours before supper, decanted 45 mins before. Was still opening up by the time we finished the bottle. Lovely, fresh nose of cassis and cherry, with a distinct gravel note. Smooth, fruity palate showing lovely Margaux notes. Need to get some more of this to see how it develops over the next 5 years.

nice bouquet - buttered toast, then rich dark cherry with a touch of chocolate. Immediate richness, quite a lot of glycerine, dark cherries again broadening out into a more elegant finale of nutmeg and redcurrant. Not really typical Margaux, but then again the old du T wasn't either. Lacks a touch of sweetness in the fruit, otherwise excellent and a great QPR at 17€. If all 2002s are this bad I'll have to look for more!

Some seepage almost to the top of the cork worried me a little at first until I smelled the first pour. Absolutely incredible wine! An underrated chateau in a mediocre vintage that over-delivered in my opinion. This to me was in a perfect place straddling the line between the primary and secondary characteristics one would expect from a well made Bordeaux. Gorgeous nose, palate and finish. I only wish I had some more.

Untill this bottle I have succeeded in avoiding the 2002 Bordeaux, but my friend Harry forced me, and.. this wine was absolutely no punishment. No, from a warm and ripening colour to a medium full and ripe(!) nearly smooth midtaste to a decent aftertaste. Just, and only, there, the wine showed a little the restraint of '02 (good tannins but a bit severe taste); a very enjoyable wine supporting nicely the slow food. 88+

Dinner with Amy S in Princeton - wine #1: Another great showing for this wine. Lovely margaux perfume on the nose. Lovely and open taste, showing tobacco, red fruit, earth and forest floor. Great QPR at the original $20 purchase price

With Pam k in sea bright, nj. What a wonderful wine! Initially lovely margaux perfumes but somewhat tannic and closed. Opened wonderfully over the next 30-60 minutes (in the glass, no decant). Notes of tobacco, red fruit, earth and forest floor. A lovely drink.

Xmas dinner & duck: Lovely perfume and delicious red fruit, forest, tobacco & earth. Best with the roast duck, but good with the scalloped potatoes, too.
