Cork / seal seemed like it might've been compromised on bottle 2. Started tighter, weaker. After it opened a bit, however, the fruit came out. Not as good as the first bottle but still enjoyable.

This is a beautiful wine.. I have to say the winemaker’s notes are pretty spot on, “The bouquet is wide, intense and complex with notes of spice, red fruits and hints of dried fruit and toasting, derived from its refining in oak.” I’d add candied cherry and mushroom on the palate. Deep, rather full, and a pleasure to drink now or hold a few years. Good price, stock up.

This stuff is freaking awesome. Old world all the way - funky, earthy, shroomy. The wood influence is there, but it is well-integrated and aged. I was skeptical of the 14.5% alcohol but it manages to stay fresh, even with the aged qualities. This is, simply put, the type of wine I get excited about. Can't wait to get more.
