Smoke, matchstick, burnt sage and cedar aromatics…plum, tart blackberry, underripe blue fruit with tannin and plenty of life - would have been amazing with tenderloin or lamb chops.

This bottle was much better than the one i rated a couple of years ago. Nice black fruit, good concentration, and well integrated fruit, oak, with some tertiary aromas and flavours. Medium(+) finish. Be aware of some bottle variation. Based on this bottle, now rush to drink up the remaining stock.

This showed really well, had one over a year ago that I didn't appreciate this much. Terroir on nose together with just a little Brett that added something to this wine. Tannins are still holding up, so this can probably run for another 10 years.

Having personally known this property and its proprietor for a long time, I was predisposed to think highly of this wine, but my bias was unable to persuade me that we have anything extraordinary here. Nice juicy, plummy fruit and good bitterish tannic backbone, with some pleasant savory notes, but nothing particularly noteworthy. Nor do I think time will do much for it, although I would recommend keeping for a few years on the off chance. There are many Merlots …

Game and mushroom is the 'game'. Ultra smooth and settled, almost to a fault. A little chocolate mid palate. The gamey lining is uber classy. WOTN. (BKK Tasting 'Right vs Left')

Un 2005 ? Wow ! Encore plusieurs années de vie pour ce vin. Pleins de petits fruits rouges viennent remplir le palais. Une belle longueur, Que du plaisir !

Disappointing. Not like I experienced before (my 12th bottle). Does not seem to be over the top really, but just dull and uninspiring.

Time has been good to this wine. Showing much better than it did 7 years ago, today, you find a mature, silky, elegant, medium-bodied, earthy, plummy wine with a bit of truffle and a soft, refined finish. This is not a long ager, so I would opt for drinking this over the next 7 years or so. No decanting needed. Just pop, pour and enjoy.

Bricking in color, the perfume is the best part of the wine due to its blend of tobacco, herbs, forest leaf and smoky red berries. Medium-bodied, with a red cherry dominated finish that was accompanied by metallic notes. Drink this sooner than later.

Decanted over three days. Nose of dark fruit and palate to match. One dimensional but pleasing, shortish finish. Third day had slight anise in the finish, but only slight. Enjoyable but not for price point as recently purchased.

La Cabanne's 2005 iteration is a deep red/garnet blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Although the latter grape injects a substantial green/minty element, there is still enough Montmorency cherry and red currant fruit from the Merlot to make this wine, now 14 years of age, quite enjoyable. Accented with notes of tobacco, espresso and loamy earth, it is a medium-bodied offering with seamless alcohol (13.5%) and well-integrated oak. At this point the tannins are light-to-medium in weight but …

Hints of black licorice, fennel, and anise, this wine is still very drinkable, even though it’s slightly past it’s prime. Color is just slightly bricky. Still needs 10 minutes in the glass to fully open up. Did not disappoint.

Mature, easy drinking, plummy wine, with a light truffle accent to the red plum core of fruit. Round, with a bit of rusticity in the texture, this medium bodied wine shows a touch of green leafy notes in the red berry finish. Drink this over the next few years, as it is only going to fade from there.

Bitter, dark chocolate with black cherries and robust tannin. Don't know what to think about this one. It either needs a few hours of air, or is drying out and won't be getting any better.

(pnp) initially, strong vinegar component set me back, thinking that, this is turning,... immediately decanted ....as it developed with air, into a sumptuous Pomerol, offering a nicely compressed mid palate of crushed ripe dark fruits, with ample nose, and integrated sturdy but soft chewy tannin with a pleasant amount of sediment....very enjoyable

Classic Pomerol 92/8 Blend, and as amazing as the 2009 vintage is for the majority of the pomerol I am giving it one more point for price performance. Just take a look at the other Grand Vins like Gazin, raising prices by 30% because most pomerols are starting into their drinking window. If you could find a 2009 pomerol that is not good, well they probably have sold their chateau by now.

Black raspberries, wild strawberry and herbs, medium bodied and soft, but not silky, with a cherry dominated finish. This is best enjoyed in its youth as the wine does not have the stuffing for long term aging.
