Very good. Decanted. No discernible development over the last year. At eight plus years, drink with a decant or hold though 2026.

Opened a couple of hours before dinner, and glad I did--this was pretty closed up when popped, but started to show some floral and herbal aromas, including the classic Rioja dill, along with some dust/stone. Rich palate with sturdy acidity and tannins to match--this should have the stuffing to age for 5-10 years or more, if the aromatics survive. Decanted. Very good, in spite of the oak regimen, the oak seems well integrated and very unobtrusive. Medium purple color, aromas and flavors show violets, blackberry, black cherry, plums, new leather, and tobacco. In development with tannin and acidity in flux. Balanced finish. Enjoyed with beef fajitas. Drink now through 2030+.

Dark purple color. A saucy aromatic blend of blackberries and blueberries, with elements of charcoal, potting soil, some dark chocolate shavings and clove – a lot of rich, deep complexities. Nice grip on the palate, built strong, with medium acidity and the balance is on point. Blueberry and jammy plum fruit, laced with graphite, charcoal, iron, mocha and leathery, peppery tones. This needs time, but it’s really something.

A very promising complex nose of barnyard, leather and some dried fruits, a recognizable mature Rioja. Taste is a bit less expressive and powerfull, more on the "traditional style". Just a good bottle of mature Rioja. (B)
