no formal notes, but another example of why I love Ryan's wines. While I prefer the SC to the RRV in terms of style, both are strong qprs.

PnP but served in the expansive Riedel Somm Burg glass. Big pretty nose delivers spicy ripe red berries. Just shy of medium body, and quite silky on the palate. This gives a deliciously blended mix of sweet and tart red fruit layered with baking spice, Bergamot, bit of potting soil, hint of Red Hots candy on occasion. Stronger on the attack than after-palate. Nice value.

It is drinking very well, especially with a couple of hours of air. This was actually day two since I opened it, poured a glass, then promptly sliced my finger and headed to the hospital. The nose was amazing when we got back... day two: Medium bodied, with light red fruits (bing cherries?), and mild notes of earth/forest floor. A relatively long finish with plenty of acid. Drink now if you want, but I think there is a bit of …

Inviting and intriguing nose of spiced cherries, fallen leaves, rose petal, and vanilla bean. More fruit forward on the palate, opening with ripened crunchy berry fruit overlying elements anise and rhubarb. The finish becomes more focused as it progresses, showing lingering tart raspberry, lively florals, and cedar. This is a highly enjoyable, somewhat new world styled pinot, that nevertheless retains freshness on the finish. R&M 89

14.2% alcohol. Perhaps less compelling next to a lineup of other more complex, more serious Zepaltas wines, but there's no denying the sheer joy of this bottle. Well done. A-

14.2% alcohol. Black cherry color. Fantastic nose of black cherry, baking spice, and a mineral note. Quite primary, but it's primary in that highly endearing way that makes it impossible to resist. Juicy and delicious and up-front goodness in the mouth, with great cherry fruit, lighter spice, and excellent acidity. Balanced, pure, and just plain tasty. Best young Zepaltas Pinot I've ever had. Big strawberry and cherry notes, not as black olive as the sonoma coast, more jumpy. The "e-noon-nez" vineyard is the anchor of the vineyard. And the farmer thinks that his dry farming is the key to the aromatic punch to the fruit.
