Simple Médoc from a great year with bottle age. Recent bargain from the Wine Society. Good colour with some age showing, black fruit, woody tones, firm tannins, nice length and balance.

Drunk a case so far and another in store. Young Vines I guess as it lacks intencity but has character charm and balance, with a good few years to go by my reckoning. A two hours decant improves it. Some corks are breaking two thirds down the neck, which is a bore. Great value.

Really not sure about this. Perhaps we didn't let it open up long enough? Seemed lacking in anything much on the nose and thoughts of being faintly sour. Perhaps needed drinking sooner?

Medium garnet. Medium intensity on the nose with blackcurrant, bramble, black cherry, mint, licorice, graphite, cedar, vanilla, clove, earth, tobacco, leather and dried blackberry. Developing. Medium intensity and dry on the palate. Medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus finish. Drink now. Not suitable for aging or further aging. Could go a bit further but not enough intensity to get better.

Smoke, oak, blackcurrant with liquorice and dare I say dill at the end. Silky and mature. Medium short finish limits it’s ceiling

Lovely mature claret. Blackcurrent and cassis balanced with savoury notes. Some smoke and cedar and a finish with a hint of liquorice.

An inconsequential claret that's so generic and dull it hardly merits a note.

Big bold fruit from the vintage, so you can still tell there's some blackcurrant in there, but it's really well integrated with the savoury notes. Super smooth, mouth filling texture. Exactly the right moment to approach this.

Had it with a grilled tenderloin. Great combo! The wine perfectly complemented the meal. Full-flavored, but not jammy; rich tannins yet smooth.
