Bright fruity nose. First sip tart with some tannin. Mellowed as it aerated. Great overall

Tart and forestynot quite smokey but old world style sour cherry very nice. That said, Phelps has overpriced their Pinots solid and enjoyable but $80 better choices at $80 (and comparable choices at $50-60). But I did enjoy it 😀

Nice fruit and acid, but rough tannins and bitterness that remains in its long finish. Surprising.

Almost a year to the day from the last time I tried this wine. Opened two hours prior to consumption. The nose was all fruit, the palate was cherry, plum, some pipe tobacco and spices. The finish was long and full.

A very robust style: this single vineyard-designated Pinot Noir had more complexity than I expected. Definitely fruit forward; black cherry marmalade and strawberry rhubarb, then vanilla and warm spices combined with kola nut and a heap of limestone. Very dark and more tannin than usual for a Sonoma Pinot. I intended to pair this Pinot with baked mushrooms and sauted spinach, but it stood up to my Fiorentina steak and garlic / rosemary potatoes. Impressive!

Much better than the bottle I had six months ago. Opened two hours prior to consumption. The nose was all fruit, the palate was cherry, plum, some pipe tobacco and spices. The finish was long and full.

Opened at let slow ox for two hours. Honestly I was not that impressed and did not see the 94 that Vinous gave it or any of the other high scores by fellow trackers. It had a nose of plum and spice. The palate was plum, dark cherry and a hint of clove. The finish was moderate. Maybe it is one of the wines that is too young to drink now and will blossom as the years go by. I …

Much better than the other Phelps pinot. Rich and the tangy aftertaste that is pleasant.

This has a fantastic flowery aroma that is alluring and compelling. Reminds me of what flowers might smell like in Heaven. The wine has a wonderful dense cherry/black cherry combination of flavors but feels light on the palate with a little peppery but smooth finish. I think this is good now but may be quite a bit better in 3 to 5 years. I couldn't get enough of the aroma. It makes me think this wine may be incredible when …

Clear, pale garnet. Plastic, white pepper, prune. Low acids, low tannins. Fennel. Short balanced finish.

Very good effort. Little warm on the finish and a little short, but balance is pretty good considering. They always seem to be consistent (pastroale).

One of my favorite bottles of Pinot noir from Phelps to date. Wish I had a lot more of this one waiting in the cellar.

As I i uncork and pour the first drop...I die. The bouquet of some unknown flowery combination stabs me in the mind and heart. I cry dried white or pink flowers?? which nobody will ever see or understand. I strain to recover, overwhelmed with emotion. I'd accept block 212 in the Phelps jail.

Ruby color with slow legs. Took a couple hour decant for black pepper to integrate. Should benefit from more aging. Aromas of black cherry, cedar and pepper with some floral hints trying to show through. Cinnamon, raspberry and cola flavors are prominate. A bit hot on the palate but very enjoyable now and should continue to evolve.
