Similar to my note from last year. This is at peak. Dusty nose with some cherry fruit too. Resolve tannins and some lovely bottle sweetness.

Similar to how it showed in Jan 2020, this is a fully mature Chianti drinking at its plateau. The fruit has relaxed and sweetened with bottle age, and there are leather notes complementing the cherry fruit. Still fresh and smooth on the palate, though the tannins continue to be a little rustic. Very enjoyable at age 15.

Double-decanted, served straightaway. On the back side of its preferred curve, with deep spice notes acting as accent to the mature cherry, and floral notes. Medium-bodied with fine, resolved tannins. Fun, with some welcome moments of elegance and length. recommended http://www.italianwine.blog

Three years since my last bottle was opened has seen this develop nicely and start to show some signs of maturity. Color is still deep in the core, but there's a wine rim of sparkling garnet. The nose is also showing some truffly aromatics along with the dusty cherry. Not amazingly complex--this is a basic Chianti after all--but very charming. The palate is where the biggest development is evident. As opposed to the dense, tight, and tart quality of youth, …

Like ROLLERBALL and EMTAME a lots of bottle variations - from „a perfect Chianti“ to „light and thin“ and „passed its zenith“. Strange.

Bright red throughout, light cloud core. Finally tracked down both the 2012 and 2013 Riecine CC. The '12 is superior for me. Red fruit spine is serious and persistent. Some vanilla and a tobacco note. Med body, med+ acidity that made my mouth water. Long finish with pleasantly middling tannin and a signature lightly bitter end. Clean and good typicity if on the light side, which works for us.

Seems to be losing its fruit, more smoke, liquorice, and violet showing right now. Most aromatic at around 60-65F.

Lots of bottle variation across the 6 I've had, all from the same retailer. This bottle was just what I'm looking for: clean, red fruited Chianti with good but not bracing acidity. No rusticity, no austerity, no brett. Just delightful Sangiovese shining through.

Dark ruby red bordering on brick, translucent with a watery rim. Sun dried tomatoes, dark red fruit - cherry, a hint of tobacco, thyme. Really nice balance of fruity and savory notes and a nice lightness of body without feeling thin. A little hot on the back end. Paired with lasagna bolognese.

Pop and pour and enjoyed with food (cauliflower and chicken soup and rice). Nice nose of fresh red berries and an earthy red clay note. Fresh berries in a light and elegant style, in a Pinot Noir style. Touch of cumin on the first nish. Delicious.

Tasted blind. This is a lovely wine that is loaded with ripe strawberry and raspberry without tasting too heavy. A whiff of mint and black truffle on the nose. I like the mix of tanginess and tannic austerity. The tannins are quite big for (what I think is) pinot noir. Guess the wine: One of my blind-wine-tasting phobias is mixing up Beaujolais and pinot noir. But I feel pretty confident going with pinot noir here. The wine tastes pretty young …

This wine still needs time for my palate. It's drinking well now if you want to catch it while there's still some unctuous fruit remaining on the palate, but it's got a few years to go before it begins to show some secondary qualities and more nuance on the aromas and palate. The tannins are buffered by the fruit, so it's certainly very drinkable now. But there's powerful structure yet to resolve.

This bottle seemed slightly off, compared to three previous bottles. A little too advanced and with a mildly oxidized note, despite no signs of trouble with the cork. Still drinkable and fairly enjoyable with food, but not what it should be.

On the lighter side of Sangiovese. Palate: just red cherries, concentration is left to be desired somewhat. Despite the thinness, it's still a good Chianti.

Wine & Dine (Top Air, Stuttgart) : Glass: Schott Zwiesel Bordeaux Popped and poured from Magnum. And the next wine which is too young... Easily detectable as a very good Chianti. Dry. Interesting note: After drinking the Klingenberger Spätburgunder this seems quite sweet :)

Enjoyed over two days, there was not much development evident. That said, the wine was drinking well from the get-go. It smells unadulterated and authentic with notes of dark, dust-covered sour cherries, leather and soil. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, savory and DRY. Firm and rugged even, with nice chewiness and high, palate-cleansing acidity. Finishes remarkably clean and fresh. On the darker side of the spectrum but traditional stuff nonetheless.

Such a well-behaved chianti. Harmoniously balanced fruit and spice with acid and tannin reined in decorously. Have to dissent from the other reviews here....I like my chianti with grainy tannins and acid verging on the excessive. This was altogether too well turned-out and polite for my taste and barely whispered of its origins. When I want "burgundian", I'll open a burgundy. My favorite entry level chianti remains Monsanto, with its ungainly elbows, street-bruiser cred and intriguing angles and shadows.

Milk chocolate, cherries, herbaceous on the nose. Palate is crunchy red fruit, coffee and savory elements. Tannins are still present and kick in on the lingering finish. At 9 years of age, this is showing some age but still has life left in it.

Wow, add this to my list of favorite classic Chianti producers. Kind of a poor man's Montevertine and just short of the complexity that Montevertine routinely achieves but, not by much. Exceptional balance and sangiovese purity. "Burgundian" class and elegance. Bright spicy cherry flavors, minerality and with a tiny hint of leather on a vibrant mid weight frame. Great floral nose of fruit and roses. Light ruby color. My wife noted the smoothness. Absolutely no hard edges or any of …

My note from a year ago is fine but it lacks overall impressions. Stunning, pure Sangiovese with very little winery modification. Attractive slight nutmeg/cinnamon/mint element at opening that fades and eventually disappears. Great example of why basic CC, with its pure grape and site focus, can be better than Riservas particularly in a ripe year. Very ripe and concentrated but holds it together. Rich in the mouth, good texture and surprisingly approachable already. Not light, shrill and fruity but plenty …

Gorgeous deep ruby, transparent at the rim. The aromas on this bottle were like model for Chianti typicity: dusty cherries with a slightly pungent leather note. The palate displays the fruity fleshiness of the vintage, but without for a second veering into thick fruited anonymity. The weight definitely buffers the acidity, but there's a sneaky grip to the wine and a sturdy but softening frame of tannin. Very nice wine, honest and of its place.

I like Riecine a lot, but this bottle was a bit of a mess. It opened well, but then came a lot of conflicting flavors, including some underlying metallic hints, and big, imprecise fruit. Maybe second day it will improve.

Why do I feel so differently about this wine? I found it hot (I don't believe the 14%) and yet a little flabby. Maybe a night in the fridge will both soften and pull it together. Second day: this came together beautifully. Maybe this needed a lot more air originally?

Beautiful wine as expected. Pure, bold, expressive fruit of earth, game, and deep cherry. Like most of the '07s, even across the palate with good weight, ripe, light tannin and very drinkable even at this young age. Now or wait for more mature characteristics to develop.

Very nice value wine. A perfect chianti. Bright, fruity, and earthy. Could have drank all night. Stood up very nicely to a tomato gravy with fresh herbs, sausage, and lots of garlic, which speaks to the depth of the wine. I'll most likely acquire some more.

Dictionary-definition Chianti -- translucent red in color, fierce old-school granular tannins that make no particular effort at being civilized, and a powerful aroma combining cinnamon with something almost gamey. I'm not sure how something this rough in structure manages to be as drinkable as this is, but whether through the sheer tastiness of the material or the companionship with food, this wine easily pulls it off. So nice to get back to a Chianti that's not trying to imitate the …
