Clos Joncuas, Gigondas

A black red color. Dark but still translucent. Some very slight signs of age, but still looks quite young. Nose is dark, with ripe black fruits — especially blackberry — and loads of spice. Black pepper. Herbs. Bitter chocolate and Liquorice. A lot going on. Palate is full of ripe but slightly tart black fruits, again blackberry dominated, with lots of spice and tons of acidity (but well integrated). Tannins are also quite strong, but are ripe. This is just a delight. Bright fruit and acid integrated with the tannins. Still feels young and fresh but with superb balance. What a delight.

Dark garnet black color. Nose is spicey with ripe black fruit (blackberry), black pepper, and a touch of something red. On the palate, quite ripe fruit of black berry and black/blue fruits. Smooth and integrated mouth feel that is full bodied with soft but large tannins. Quite luxurious. A bit of spice here as well and nice acidity. Taste quite young, but drinking beautifully.
