4 Kilos Vi de La Tierra Mallorca The Island Syndicate

My first red from Mallorca and my first single varietal of Callet. The name of 4 kilos derives of the weight of initial investment of the winery - 4 million pesetas. Vinified with minimal intervention aged in FR oak for 12 months Pale+ garnet colour, ruby hue. Medium+ intensity aroma of preserved cherries and strawberries, roses, candied hints. Medium body, fruity flavours with fresh and candied strawberries, cherries, raspberries, herbal hints, quite explosive high acidity, mild tannic structure.

A very special and unique wine. Light red. Not much on the nose. Very light and fresh on the palate, immediatly followed by deeper herbal notes. Long taste. Drink with light dishes, or maybe on a warm summer day on Mallorca.

Not typical Español. Elegant like a Burgundy. Better in a few years.

Port Andratx, Redtaurant Trespais m Korsholms. Very smooth. Low tannin. Not very complex. Balanced but overpriced!

Beautiful nose driven by sweet strawberries, viola, touch of herbal notes and freshly cut pine. All notes are very subtle but are clearly defined on the palate as the balance is close to perfect for this type of wine. Interesting and enjoyable. This is some serious wine and the best vintage of 4kilos i have tasted.

This is a lighter red. It has very nice fruit - cherries and strawberries. Limited tannins but reasonable acidity. This is a different wine and well done but not my normal red.

Crisp, clean, bright cheery, earthy notes. Ned (+) acidity and tannins, great structure, not a fruit driven wine. Very well made and very enjoyable!
