Euchre night : The second darkest wine in a recent case purchase of old white Burgundies, so these first few bottles are the ones I’m expecting to go right down the drain. Dark color. Notes of butterscotch and orchard fruit. Slightly nutty. More fruit on the palate than the nose suggests there will be, but that’s being generous. Really not worth the effort here.

The color was a pale yellow color. On the nose these was maybe a hint of maderization but otherwise there was some very pretty stone fruit aromas. Still lots of acid on the palate.

Upon opening, it was very closed and tight, which I often find even in White Burgs with a bit of age on them, so I let it sit in the glass while I finished preparing dinner. Half an hour later, mineral and lemon notes emerged, and in an hour it was drinking really well.. actually, as my wife pointed out, the nose didn't match the palate. Intense but more mature tropical aromas with a wiff of oxidation, contrasted to a …
