This is drinking really well right now. Dense, opaque coloring, with a bit of transparency and ruby coloring towards the edges. Aromas of dark and dark red fruits, earth, eucalyptus, and leather. Medium body and finish, medium(+) acidity, and flavors of bright but dark and dark red fruits (black raspberry), a tinny iron element, lemon, leather, and mineral. Lighter and brighter than most CA syrahs.

Nothing at first then opened up to be just average. Not much here. Not as good as other bottles of this. maybe past optimal drinking window?

Good juice and great value. Not overly complex, but just what io was looking for in a Friday night Syrah. Big red fruit on the nose and the palate.

Modern, forward style syrah with loads of blueberry and blackberry on the nose and palate, along with some black pepper, violets, big time acidity, and a definite bretty metallic note that was really coming through on the front of my tongue (no barnyard nose, however). Quite a tart note on the dark end like black raspberry coming through, which integrated a bit with 20-30 mins. in the decanter (there was a bit of sediment to note), but interestingly after about …

Blackberry, tart cranberry, green olive, hints of nutmeg. Nice concentration, but it's somewhat overpowered by the acidity which shuts down the berry flavors too soon. Enjoyable enough, but I would not choose to buy more.

Can't raise the score, and if Steve thinks this wine is corked, well, I really like Steve, but that's not the effect you get from TCA, which is the same as saying a wine is corked. I stand by my earlier review: I thought I was drinking Sangiovese. Good sangiovese, like a Chianti in this range of what I paid, but not Syrah. I'll keep parceling these out over the next couple years at 6 month intervals, and I will …

We tasted this wine and posted comments on Sept 1st. Since then we have had some dialogue with Steve Law and believe the bottle we opened was either corked or contained enough TCA to significantly effect the taste. Steve really makes great wine and our Sept bottle should not deter you from tasting his wines.

This was just sour cherry...period. Decanted...put back in the bottle for tomorrow. But too acidic and sour. We belong to the club but this does not measure up to our expectation of Steve Law produced wine. This bottle was given proper provenance so that was not an issue.

Sour cherry, leather and gritty tannins. May need more time...may just be the wine. Sediment in glass..huge wine.

Bright blackberry, with a little bell pepper and a jumble of tannin. Will decant thoroughly before trying again...not sure if it will age or if time will cause it to fall apart and it's meant to be drunk young and aired out. Still very good, but I'll withhold "excellent"

I really like Steve Law's wine, but this one was a little sharp. More sangiovese like in its sour cherry flavors. and lacking the savory backbone I really like in good N. Rhone Syrah. I spoke to Mike Talty the other day, and he said Steve is trying to balance drink-now fruit with the kind of savory ageability. It's also a tightrope walk on the acid. I'd say this is one I will lay aside for a few more years …

Didn't take formal notes, but this is a medium-bodied, fruit forward syrah with tart black and blue fruits and black pepper coming through on nose and palate. A little new world for my taste, but pretty good overall.

Overall a good wine especially for its price. Decent nose and short to medium finish but it is too light bodied and somewhat watery to my palate.

Pop & poured from a vinturri. Dark purple in color and smells of dark berries and violets. Sour black cherries and black fruits with a meaty grip at the end. Lots of heat at the end. Goes well with pizza and tabasco.
