2nd to last bottle of this - still has lots of youth - incredibly smooth tannins, decanted for half an hour while we enjoyed some Chablis. Perfect with steak and broccoli, opinion hasn’t changed a bit here. Almost raised to 99. Just delicious Kinsman Cabernet!

Opened this special wine for my mom's birthday. Shae noted that these are awake and she's definitely right. Decanted ~3 hours. On the nose, I smelled black fruit, black cherry, cedar, and slight notes of leather. Upon sipping, I tasted red fruit, black fruit, leather and baking spices. The taste and smell are addicting. Throughout the night, addicting aromas kept coming out of the glass as the wine evolved. Simply put, this wine is special. It is open now but …

This was pretty flawless. Shae suggested it was time, and she was not wrong. The tannins have been totally tamed and are as silky as you can find in Napa. The red fruits and black cherries are upfront. Seems like it will have plenty of time left but can’t imagine it gets much better!

For my tastes, in a perfect spot. Acidity and tannins have softened with the fruit being the main event. With the acid and tannins softened, I’m not sure how much longer I would age this, but I have two left so I’m sure we’ll see!

This savory and dense interpretation of this vineyard is incredible, just starting to open up now - but with years to go before it sleeps. To me, you haven't tasted the Sleeping Lady Vineyard until you've tasted this wine. Working with a different clone (22) and more intense and layered than other wines from this site (e.g., Fait-Main, Ad Vivum), the Anjea is just starting to open up - but it's an absolute original. Dark red in color and full …

Great night of over indulgence- and then cap’d off with great Signet scotch. 2000 Pavie Macquin, 2019 Tor VHR Pure Magic, 2018 Del Dotto Single Cluster, 2016 Abreu Las Posadas (killer even now with 4x decant and then 1.5 hours in decanter- stupid young but WOTN) and 2016 Kinsman Anjea (runner up) and 2019 La Pelle (best QPR delicious). Zero notes only simple impressions. 94.5 up 1/2 with more room in a year or two. Wine has improved since my …

3 days in Napa: Arkenstone, Memento Mori, Maxem, The French Laundry, Christopher Tynan, Kinsman, Harlan, Vice Versa, Accendo, Fairchild, Macdonald, and a truckload of others (Napa) : The best wine I’ve had from the Sleeping Lady site. I’ve honestly never been wholly impressed with that vineyard nor convinced it had the ultimate potential to compete with some of the big boys in Napa. Well, color me stupid (again). With blackberry and black-berry fruits spinning around in the core, this rendition …

Kinsman gets way more concentration and depth out of this vineyard source than other producers I've tasted. From what Nigel says, they drop 20% of the juice to get it to this level and it shows. He also uses clone 22, which I had never heard of before, but clearly it's all working! Blackberries, dark cherry, forest floor and hints of floral show on the nose. The palate is just packed and stacked with intensity. Depth for days, with fine …

Wow. I would like to just post the one word and drop a mic but not sure how to do that so here goes. Had both Kinsman 2016 wines at one of our favorite restaurants in AZ, Cafe a Monarch (unfortunately we had to bolt due to an allergic reaction) or it would have been a perfect night. Krug 168 and both 2016 Kinsman wines. Krug- same notes apply. must give this air or the acidity closes the palate unable …

If you combine my earlier tasting note from Napa and Sean7711’s note, you have today’s experience. 9 hr decant. Still a wall of tannins holding this back. I could almost taste the oak. Acid, red and black fruit, touch of perfume. If you’re considering opening one in the name of science, don’t. Just wait 7-9 yrs. You’ll thank me only after you failed to heed this advice.

2016 Kinsman Anjea Sleeping Lady vs. 2016 Fait Main Sleeping Lady I decided to pit these two highly regarded wines against each other (in the name of science, I guess?) for Christmas Eve with family. I saved a glass of wine from each to check in on Christmas. I decanted both starting at 8:30am and had my first sips of both around 5:30pm. Kinsman Anjea (14.7%, 100% Clone 22) This is still hiding behind a massive wall of tannins, even …

Delicious! Had a chance to taste this after a double decant from the night before and about an hour in the open bottle. Beautifully ripe dark fruit, with a silky finish that went on forever. Truelly top notch. The one you’re hoping for every time you try something new!

Tastings; 9/19/2019-9/20/2019 (Napa) : The 2016 Anjea Sleeping Lady Vineyard is an absolutely stunning debut for Kinsman Eades. Gorgeous and layered with red and black currants, perfumed flowers, red cherries, and cocoa. Deeply structured with coarse tannins. You are going to need to be patient, perhaps 5-7 years, before this is ready to drink. Tasted with Shae and Nigel at Long Meadow Ranch.

Napa 2019; 7/14/2019-7/18/2019 : Tasted at Wheeler Farms with Shae and eventually Nigel. Great people, great project! No points today. This is a wound up beast that needs to slumber for 7-9 years, but oh the potential. A wall of tannins is holding this back, but plenty of acid to let a beautiful bouquet of red and black fruit show through with patience. If you bought, be happy. If you didn’t you should.

Up the PCH; 6/4/2019-6/16/2019 (Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, Napa, and Willamette) : Lunch with Shae Kinsman at Charter Oak. Was able to taste both the 2016 Anjea and Rhadamanthus. To compare and contrast, this is 100% Cab from Yountville. Extremely tightly wound and coiled up for now, but did open up towards the end of the lunch. Smooth tannins, plenty of structure to go the distance. When I get my 3 pack of this in the fall, I …

100% Clone 22 cabernet. 125 cases. This is a different section of the vineyard from Fait Main. Pure red/black currant fruit tones. Super fine with great integration of tannin and length. Long warm blanket of clean fresh tones. Well concealed edges of acid structure as it should in youth. There is a common thread between Accendo and Kinsman – a resonating smoothness. Both incorporate the Sleeping Lady Clone 22 cabernet, although Kinsman is a single-vineyard designate so you are seeing …
