Lighter style of Grenacha...good flavor with a little complexity. Light on the tannins but the balance was good.

Purple in color, the grenache comes through nicely with the shiraz adding some spice notes. The nose is reminiscent of some southern Rhone wines, tobacco, leather, etc. Palate of dark smoked fruits, figs, dried prunes, etc. The wine is somewhat astringent or harsh. The finish occurs on the roof of the mouth and is short. The nose promises more than the palate delivers. At $10, an interesting wine, worth a taste, would buy a case though.

This is a terrific fruit forward (but not simple) wonderfully balanced wine. Outstanding QPR.

Very dark. Plum, blackberry and some spice aromas. On the palate - very ripe, some pepper. Some alcohol residual that detracts a bit from the finish. Still a very good, unusual wine especially for the money.

Very expressive in its Grenache backbone with a hint of spiciness from the syrah. Deep black fruit and lots of weight, a bit of old world funkiness just to let you know you are in Europe. Very nice for the price! Will hold onto the 2nd one for a year and see what it does.

Balanced but not memorable - it lacked any real depth and was a bit thin. Light, a little tart - wouldn't bother buying again.

{ST} Color light cherry red, medium body, clear. Nose showed some complexity and actually reminded me of a Cab Sav with a little age on it, with medium depth red cherry, tomato, baking spice, cedar, a little leather, and vanilla. However on the palate it is light in weight with grenache flavors of ripe berries, cinnamon, and a little earthiness. Medium acid, mild tannins, short finish of tart berries, wood, and a little alcohol showing. Overall not bad, but rather …

Strawberries and cherries on the nose. Nice creaminess on the palate mixed with more red fruit. A little boring and one dimensional. Light--med bodied with a shortish finish. Better Spanish values out there.

This wine seems to be getting better. Dark red with a slight purplish tint. Pretty much opaque. Wild blackberries and old, wet, mossy stone on nose. Taste is similar with the addition of a significant dose of black pepper and crushed coriander seed, slight taste of menthol snuff on the retro. Mouthfeel is nice, well balanced. Really enjoyable wine, decent complexity, but drinks easy.

WIML90 Tasted July 25, 2009 at a retail tasting. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Rich nose of berries, plum, cedar and a dash of coffee. Flavors of black cherries, currants and plums. Medium acidity, firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink over the medium term.

I loved the layers of flavor with this wine but felt it had a bit of harshness that held me back from a higher score.

Not quite a tasting note as a comment for now...This wine confirms the trend of older wine producing styles making way for the new. This wine combines the easy drinkability of california with notes from the old world.

Wow - this was a very odd wine! Deep ruby colour. Pronounced black fruit (black cherries) and plums aromas combined with spice (pepper, liquorice) and very pronounced mineral aromas like tar or even rubber and toasted oak. Although the wine loosened up after 1 hour in decanter it was still very spicy and minerally on the nose. Palate dominated by black fruit, while aftertaste reveals spice and smoky, toasted oak and vanilla. Overall, a good balance between medium acidity, body …

Dark red-purple color. Great nose of sweet berries, a little funky cellar smell going on. Toasty oak, ripe red fruit, really good balance. Nice acid. Pleasant finish, even though not real long. This is a very nice wine, and an absolutely incredible value at $15. Really unbelievable considering it drinks like a $40 wine. Norrel Robertson is the man. 90 pts.

Staff Favorites/Sale Wines (Farpointe Cellar) : The nose had raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and dried herbs. The palate was hot, with good acidity, and had raspberry and spice.
