Squarely in its secondary stage of life, but still very juicy, right, aromatic, just lovely. The thing that I really love about this wine is that sort of wild blackberry note. There is an almost Beaujolais type of character to this. I still have four more bottles of this. I think maybe drinking one every year or so from now on is a good idea. I think, but I’m not sure, there might be another interesting layer around the bend.

This is our fresh ingredient gluten-free pizza wine for tonight. The nose shows; sweet & sour dark cherries, stewed fruits of blackberries, black plum, raspberries to black raspberries, poached strawberries, vanilla, creamy liqueur notes, dark & milk chocolate, steeped fruit tea, stewed tomatoes, sandstone & limestone, saddle-wood, mix of black & red licorice, dry crushed rocks, some dark soils, light tobacco & leather notes, rubber toy/VA, burnt coffee, dark, fresh & withering florals with violets and lavender. The body is …

This is not the most expensive or fantastical wine, but it is to me a perfect one, just nailing what a Chianti can and should be: too easy to drink, excellent and versatile with food, but with a killer finish to savor if you want to. The age has done it wonders, it is now a smooth and supple beauty of natural, traditional Chianti. Glad I have more of this.

Rubinrød, middels dyp. Nydelig intens nese, kirsebær, vaniljestang, eukalyptus/lakk, Middels fylde i munnen, mye kirsebær, litt ukompleks, lett tørrende tanniner. Litt tydelig alkohol. Kanskje litt lukket? Notater etter to timer i karaffel.

This bottle was sinnnnggging . So alive and vivacious! It's been fascinating to watch this improve over the last few years and the trajectory is still very much upwards.

Nice fruit on the palate but with some VA. And a hard edged finish.

Well, this was totally f'ing delicious. Bright red fruit, spices, pine forest (ridiculous descriptor alert). Gulpable, transparent, nuanced. Unfortunate that it has become a lot harder to find.

Magnum. Light ruby with some maturity. Light weight, combination of black cherry and earth in a soft, mature package that is free of any tannin to interfere with current enjoyment. Ready and good.

Having not visited this for a while, it initially seemed a bit hot, which quite surprised me. However, with time that changed and it became the gentle soul I knew and loved. Secondary flavors coming through, but this was better the 2nd day, which is encouraging.

I may have to reevaluate my thinking on this wine. I've been drinking it pretty early, believing it has gone as far as it could: fruity, balanced, good acidity, but no stuffing for further development. My impression tonight, however, is that there is enough behind the fruit to continue to develop easily for another 5-8 years. Mais que sais-je? It's all subjective and maybe the rest of my bottles are already dead.....

Magnum. Light fragrance of red fruit and anise. Light weight, supple, good acidity, some tannin. This did just what it was supposed to do-provide an enjoyable complement to the Italian food. Nothing profound but a wonderful choice for an evening where the wine was in the background and good food and conversation were the main agenda.

Out of magnum. Beautiful sangiovese nose with lifted fruit and flowers. Some savory herbs through the nose to the middle with plenty of verve and cut. Still juicy though not primary. Really delicious wine and an incredible match to Hemu's massala. I wouldn't have though that it could take the heat, but it could and all the structure melted away to pure fruit. Made me stop and take notice. I'm really, really happy with where this wine is right now. …

Time has brought out a higher level of tannin than I'd remembered; this is a good thing, but I'd like to see it a bit more resolved before I tap another bottle.

Kirsebær, moreller, bringebær, litt pepper og kaffe. Bra balanse mellom syre og frukt. God chianti for årgangen.

Nice intense ruby colour. On the nose: at first fairly closed, some alcohol, maybe cherry and violet. Then after an hour it improved with a few spices but nothing focused, pleasent though. The strength of this wine is the palate: balanced with medium body, good acidityand texture, although a bit short. A genuine enjoyable bottle. On day two aromas completely faded. Looking at the other reviews, i was expecting something more exciting.

Look, I know it's absurd but I was confident that within 5 minutes of popping this open tonight that Feb. 21 had to be a fruit day on the biodynamic calendar (imagine how my entire wine tasting worldview might have crumbled it if wasn't!). But it is, it is! I just confirmed it here: http://www.rhythmofnature.net/biodynamic-calendar Montesecondo is a biodynamic property, and the first bottle of this vintage a while back redefined Chianti for me. Subsequent bottles have been a little …

Let me say that I haven’t had that many chianti, but this is the best chianti I’ve ever had. Shares more in common with Nuits St Georges than its sangio neighbors. Indeed, the winemaker did a great interview on I’ll Drink to That recently, in which he mentioned burgundian influence, and that 2011 he achieved everything he’d ever wanted to with this wine. Wonderfully aromatic, finely textured and just so heady and delicious. Which brings me to the next point: …

Magnum. Deep red not pristinely clear. Light cherry and spice. Just as before, lovely weight, piquant acidity without any sense of astringency, light, supple red fruit that is at a perfect point of ripeness. Very, very enjoyable with a varied Italian meal, showing versatility with diverse dishes and delicious with all of them.

2011 Montesecondo Chianti Classico: Probably too young, pretty nice, fresh, good tannins & fruit, some depth and a hint of complexity to come. Nothing wrong here, but I can't seem to love this wine as some afficionados do, even as Chianti.

Tasting of Foradori and Montesecondo with Elisabetta Foradori and Silvio Messana (San Francisco Wine Trading Company) : Out of magnum. Medium ruby with faded rim. Complex mix of red fruits and herbs on the nose. Light but good sappiness, ever so slight amount of wood. Delicious subtle fruit (ripe but not sweet), great embedded acidity, good length and not much remaining tannin with an excellent sense of terroir at the end. Marvelous now and over the next 5 years, I'd …

Aerated an hour in decanter. Delicious nose of dark fruits, spice, herbs and minerals. On the palate fruit driven, with integrated tannins and and nice acidity. Concentrated with nice structure and a bittersweet finish. Complex and balanced. Very good length. A suberb, young Chianti Classico that will gain from further storage. Served with wild sheep. Very nice pairing.

This is without a doubt from the moment you pull the cork the most deliciously fragrant and best tasting young Chianti Classico I've ever had. It calls to mind the thrilling sensation of young '05 Burgundy, where you immediately just knew. I'm not suggesting this is vin de garde, but then again, if it did shut down, who knows what would come out on the other side? From the back label: 80% sangiovese, 3% colorino, and 17% canaiolo. Biodynamic farming …

my first impression resembles the first two notes: clearly well made, but tight and a bit bitter, ungiving even with significant air. probable will be better the next day and a lot better in 3-5 years. Next day: this wine did nothing good and started to fall apart in air. I hope this is just a bad bottle or bad timing, because there are a lot of good and cheaper Chianti out there.

Flott ung og åpen Chianti. Imponerende frukt godt balansert med syre. Snille tanniner.

Gorgeous young Chianti that conveyed great purity. Beautiful nose of bright red sangio fruit with whiffs of tobacco and roses. Fresh acids and fine, chalky tannins that made it perfect with dinner. Reminiscent of a young Montevertine in its blend of elegance and classical Sangio typicity, but this is half he price! Wonderful.

Very dry and un-giving both aromatically and on the palate. Appealingly lithe texture hinting at silkiness down the road, perhaps, with no hint of excessive intervention or concentration. With extended air time, slightly bitter Sangiovese liquorice and tar flavors come forth, suggesting fruit depth that will develop as the wine continues to age. Medium-bodied. So, seems a nice wine, needs time; definite hold for now. Overnight in the 'fridge, the components marry up nicely to give a wine of integrity, …
