Vietti Nebbiolo d'Alba San Michele

1978-1990 Vietti Barolo and Barbaresco (Palo Alto, CA) : Fine sediment. Iron filings, leather and tar on the nose. Tart, with savory beef broth, a little odd, and some tannin. Weaker aromatically than many of the other wines here, this went downhill in the glass. My 8/8, group's 5/8.

1978-1990 Vietti Barolos and Barbarescos Blindtasted (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA) : Group's #5 (my #8) – 82 pts.; 2, 3, 1, 3 – static savory, dry sausage and dried cherry nose; nice tart red fruit and dried cherry palate with sweet tannins, but it faded out markedly over 90 minutes in the glass; medium finish
