Drunk over two days. Very solid, Merlot-influenced nose, more on the damson, ripe plum, and cedarwood than the classic sour and bitter cherry of Sangiovese. Nevertheless displays a clear, sweet, balsamic herbaceous element, together with some polished wood, and greengage. Firm tannins on the palate, but the new wood is fully metabolised.
