The first bottle that I had 2 years ago was outstanding, but this bottle that I’ve stored in near perfect conditions had deteriorated greatly and I’m glad it was finished tonight. A few more months might have rendered it totally unworthy of the miso-maple salmon we had tonight. The fish was way better than the wine this time!

Decanted but started to drink immediately. To the nose, forest, dark and red fruit, and slight oak/leather. On the palate, a mix of dark and red fruit (blackberry, red cherry and boysenberry, with black cherry joining on the second glass. Pepper and cinnamon for spices with a clear cola note. Medium mouthfeel and length for RRV PN. Tannins in thin laces barely providing structure. A balanced PN - not too much fruit forward. Paired well with Christmas ham and scalloped …

One of my all-time favorites. Gorgeous RRV red fruit.

Muted nose, but big, bold, very dark flavors for a pinot. Very pronounced spice component. Decent complexity. Medium finish. I don't know if I've ever tasted a darker, heartier pinot (no Hearty Burgundy remarks, please).

Decanted. To the nose, pepper, vegetal/forest, dark fruit (that changed as opened), and alcohol (14.2%, but more likely b/c colder than desired at 60F when started). On the palate, pepper (black and white) with very slight cinnamon, notable cola, and a mix of dark and red fruit that evolved - first boysenberry, blackberry, red cherry and black raspberry, then black cherry entering. Medium mouthfeel and length for RRV PN. Second glass at 45 min after decant was better than the …

Drinking very well right now. PnP through a Venturi. This was a late night bottle so no detailed notes where taken, but I to think its in its prime window now.

Very consistent from year to year. PnP. Starting to evolve on second glass and show some darker flavors. Lovely.

PnP. Nose leaps out of the glass with bright fruit and spice. Palate is full of black and blue fruit with a layer of spice wrapped in a crisp acidity.

This showed dramatically better than the bottje I had in March. The components are the same but tonight felt more complete, with greater depth. Good chance these are approaching their peak drinking window. 91

Beautiful ruby color; unmistakable RRV nose; cherry/bright red plum on the palate with pleasant spice on the finish. Enjoyed by my dinner guests paired with sesame seared tuna steak and dill poached salmon.

Popped and poured. Translucent ruby, with slight cloudiness. With a little coaxing, nose is very appealing with classic Russian River Pinot markers. Palate is similar, in a middleweight frame with a fair amount of acid. This doesn’t wow me but it’s a really good appelation bottling, true to its place of origin and well made, at that. Sojourn is always well priced but, at the sub $30 Last Bottle tarriff, this is a good value. 90

Bright red color. Cherry on the tongue--more black than red--and, maybe, plum. Some salinity, mid-palate. Medium-bodied. Good tartness. An OK wine, but, again, not aspirational.

Excellent depth and notes of leather, blue fruit and spice. Holds up to hardy food like venison and lamb.

Big, young, full flavored. I picked a few of these up after finishing and thoroughly enjoying my last 2011 of the same bottling. Give these a couple years to settle down and hopefully shed some of the baby fat. On a side note the mrs. loved it, as-is.

Pop and pour and tasted over two days. Ruby color, fairly vibrant. Nose offers some red strawberries and a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon bark. Good ripe red fruits but there is an acidic element that is a bit jarring and out of balance. Perhaps over time the acidity may fade a bit. Drinkable but not fully enjoyable.

Very nice red cherry on the nose, flavors of candied red cherry, (bit of cherry cola), has certain sourness (maybe earthiness) which I found to be pleasant, mild oak but can tell it's there.

Pop and pour and tasted without food. Just opened this so my note is an initial impression. Will update as I follow this for a little longer. Bright ruby color. Raspberry coulis. Maybe raspberry Linzer Torte. This has a nice nose of red raspberries and baked pie/torte. Flavor follows the nose - like a fresh raspberry pastry but with an acidic citrus note on the finish that stops this from being overly sweet. Has some nice depth. May likely improve …
