Arista, Perli Pinot Noir, Mendocino Ridge

Starting to fade although I still agree with my tasting notes of the past 3.5 years. Near perfect cork easily removed. Dark burgundy color with mild oxidation and medium clarity. Consumed over two days, fruit faded quickly. I have no bottles of this vintage remaining in the cellar.

Amazingly good !! I strongly agree with my tasting note of almost 15 months ago. Perfect cork, easily removed. Dark burgundy color with medium clarity. Consumed over two days, remained balanced throughout. Oxygen only helped this delicious Pinot Noir, the best of Anderson Valley. Arista selected vineyard blocks that include the Swiss Clone 2A, also known as Wadenswil, as well as Dijon Clones 667 and 777. I still have one bottle of this vintage remaining in the cellar.

Nice cherry and raspberry fruit and a nice acidic back end. Good food wine and went well with our stuffed chicken. 3/27/2023 Seemed really disjointed. Cherry, raspberry fruit, even a little rhubarb. Then some not-unpleasant tartness. Then a little oak on the finish. But absolutely no flow, just 3 distinct phases.

This wine was as close to perfect as I have had in a while. Very soft tannins with a rich mouth feel. Fruit was super balanced. Had with duck confit and there was just enough acid to balance out the super rich duck. Outstanding wine.

Drank a few weeks ago...definitely solid, nobody would mistake this as anything but California, but pretty well balanced, fruit still going strong, no rush to drink.

Needed a bit of time in the decanter, but emerged with bright cherry fruit, nice mouth feel, and just the right amount of earthiness toward the end. Finished with a bit of lingering oak. Great with spinach ravioli in a rich pasta sauce. 4/21/2019 Fruit leaned more to the darker side this time, but otherwise a really nice transition to earthiness and oak. Very nice.

Pomegranate and raspberry fruit. Some pretty sharp tartness and then a cedar and forest floor finish. Quite a lot of sediment. Definitely more of a food-oriented wine. 6/14/14 Quite a few different impressions this time. More black fruit along with the raspberry. Some licorice notes, too. Good forest-y finish, but the sharpness of the actual tannins were muddled.

A beautiful pinot and why we love Arista. Decanted for 2 hours. Light nose gives way to lovely cherry and strawberry notes. This wine has a wonderful mouth feel. Soft and supple. A balanced well rounded pinot. This is the last of our 2009 Ferrington Vineyard. Looking forward to the 2010 and 2011.

This was supper well blended. Somewhat jammy. Drank it with a chicken dish made with vinegar, and some spinach mixed with basil, white beans and lemon zest. Very, very nice pairing.

Dark purple on the verge of black (mega purple?). Nose has sweet spice notes, with dark berries and sweet cherries and a hint of vanilla. Flavors match the nose. Nice mouth feel with a limited finish. Very nice pinot. Glad I have more!

Closed to start with. Moved to tart fruits like cherries or raspberries. After an hour smoothed out to beautiful well balanced wine with moderate tannins, smooth mouth feel and an earthy deliciousness. Probably drank to soon. Decant or wait.

OMG! What a fantastic pinot! It has a rich burgundy color and legs that are longer than any Rockette. The nose has vanilla, chocolate, and coffee apparent. It still has enough tannins to give it some spunk, but the mouth feel isn't chalky dry. It's smooth and rich (though those tannins do make a return appearance on the finish). I do love my Arista -- this was good, and different from many of Arista's other pinots, but not as striking as I'm accustomed to. Relatively cloudy in the glass -- lots of turbidity. Never really settled out. Dark fruit dominates the nose, as well as the initial taste. Tannins felt a little muddled and soft. A good pinot, but not a knockout.

Dark fruits and cola on the nose. Deep rich color. Well integrated dark fruit, a touch of pine and licorice on the front end. Long, evolving finish. Very nice pinot. Can't wait to try it again in 6 months!

This was very enjoyable. It didn't overwhelm, and for a very young pinot was balanced and extremely approachable. Would drink with pleasure anytime.

DAWGS March 2011 - Arista Winery (bigred_seeker's house in University Park, Dallas, TX) : WIML92-93+ Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Garnet to perhaps dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Soft and supple nose of flowers, berries, raspberries and soapstone. Flavors red raspberries, red berries and red cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
