Drinking well. Better with a bit of air to let it wake up. No rush, though no reason to wait IMO.

This wine needed quite a bit of air. A bit of reduction on the nose, followed by flavors of lemon, smoke, green apples, flint, and grapefruit. Nice acidity on the palate with tart fruit, more lemon, lime, apple, and minerals. Good finish. Very good wine that could need a few years in the cellar to show it's best. 92+

Night at Ravinia (Highland Park, IL) : Tasted double blind. Clearly from Burgundy from a young and balanced vintage, I correctly thought 2017. Lots of ripe apple with faint peach and herbaceous traces. Very good depth and weight for its level. Very good now.

First bottle from Ramonet; very enjoyable; the nose is full of ripe orchard fruit, floral notes, a hint of spice, and just a touch of orange peel; the palate is rich and full bodied with ripe orchard fruits; fleshy, but not heavy; good concentration; I liked this and would definitely be interested in exploring the Ramonet wines further.

Blind 2014 / 2017 White Burgundy (Chez Winefool) : Blind. Pretty nose of lemon-lime, orchard fruit and florals. Palate is richly fruited with nice power and balance. Came across a bit simple. When told there was village wine in the otherwise 1er cru lineup, most called this as the village wine. (although then another village bottle turned up, which was mistakingly inserted as a 1er). My 5/5, Group #5.

So much quality and stuffing here for a Village wine. Approachable now but still holding back a gear or two as the mineral and floral notes are there but not as intense as I expect them to be with another 1-2 years in bottle. Great vintage for Ramonet. 1-2 points of upside.

Was looking forward to this given the acclaim for Ramonet’s 17s, and wanted to check in on where the 17s whites are at the moment. Unfortunately this just didn’t want to come out to play. Lots of unintegrated oak, smelt of coffee and roasted nuts with a little of the signature spearmint at the end. Even more muted on the palate with a bitter finish. Definitely lay these down for a lot longer.

not blind Unfortunately no time to decant, getting better after half an hour. Saline, later some nuts and more deepness, well drinkable at this stage, 1 hour of decantation next time. 91-92
