Clear medium read. Pleasant aged cassis and pine nut nose. Dry light black fruit flavours and a dry light finish.

Bill's, to make sure BC gets represented at this tasting. Comfortably aged with light, warm fruit.

A medium ruby Merlot that was star bright with clear edges. Aromas included caramelized sugar and green bean. It had a medium body, which I found thin for a Merlot. The tannins were medium-minus and quick to dissipate. Acidity was medium-minus, which was acidic enough for balance. The wine had thick, slow legs (14% ABV) and was bone dry. It was a bit spicy on the palate, with plum being the dominant flavour. There was definite oak aging. Overall, this …

lots of freshly sprinkled vanilla over cassis, green bean, hint of dill. Mid weight, sweet, soft tannins but not flabby.

Alcohol threw balance off. Nice tannins. Nose showed high alcohol content (14.7%)

Nose light fruit and some dark coffee like quality - light though. Palate - well - maybe i paired wrong with food - but ouch on the acid level and the hot ETOH level. Not great. Did try with some blue cheese and other appropriate food pairing after awhile for fun and did mellow...made it a little smoother and brought out some carmel coffee quality on the finish. Otherwise light to medium bodied, light cherry/strawberry notes...this is ok, but not …

Surprisingly nice bottle of BC Merlot for $18. May need another year or two in the cellar to round out, but delicious with medium complexity and medium to full body. Nose of coffee and dark berries. Finish should improve with time.

Opened and served right away. Deep ruby red but showing some browning at the rim. Nose of black fruits, cedar, coffee beans and hints of earth. On the palate flavours of coffee beans, black currants and dark cherries. Medium acidity, mouth drying tannins, medium to full body with medium length finish that gives some heat and a blast of dark plum. Drink now and for the next few years. Good.
