A bit of leather and forest floor on the nose. Dark cherry and plum on the palate. Better with food than on its own.

What I love about these wines is the elegance, balance and great acidity. I feel this is a bit chunkier and missing most of the above. It is okay and may well tone down a bit but not what I look for in this producer.

Lovely wine; had it up against the 2017 Il Poggione Brunello, so that was a tough match. Opened up a bit. Probably should have had it as a stand-alone. Still plenty of body and complexity. Love Sesti's wines.

Lovely complexity with beautiful balance. Someone....AG? had said that the '21 Rossos were worth watching out for (english?). This is the first I've had and I agree. At half to a third the cost of a Brunello this is an excellent wine and value.

****BOOM!!!!!!!! here we go......wine is singing. I wish I did not open my previous bottles. Burgundy in color. Translucent, medium bodied. Red licorice, robacco notes, red berries. Nice acidity. Tastes like the nose. Lovely wine and even better with a nice pasta dish. I'll hold on to my last bottle for the final push.

Maybe a little woody in the initial flavor burst, but in a lovely Tuscan way. Smoothed out to a very nice Sangiovese; complex and long.

This is well reviewed both here and by professional commentators. However I was rather underwhelmed - a littler too delicate.

Drinking nicely with a hint of age in the robe. Other than clean and dusty I’m not picking up a lot from the nose. Tart dried cherry, if that’s not redundant, with fine integrated tannin, and a medium earthy leather finish.

This medium ruby wine was uncorked, poured and serially tasted over a two-hour period. Fully opening after the first hour, it offers a luscious package of Montmorency cherries, red currants, dried apricots, loamy earth and baking spices. Medium-bodied, vibrantly acidic, lightly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14%), it buttresses the flavors with silky tannins and stays solid on the mid-palate. Concluding with good length, this is a beautifully balanced Rosso that represents excellent value. There is plenty of …

*****See previous notes This wine is improving. Decant for at least 4 - 5 hours, drink cellar cool. Incredibly fragrant nose. Loads of red licorice, bright red fruit, and fairground candy apples. Medium minus body. Tastes like the nose but more subtle. Medium plus finish. Great wine for the price. Drink or hold. Did and assortment of grilled meats for dinner. Jupiter rising!

A lot of unpleasant and slimy looking residue on the cork (tan colored). This has been consistent with the other two 2017s I’ve opened from Sesti. Day 1: cherry and herbal. Nice acidity but tannins needed some time. Day 2: decanted over a few hours. On the nose, cherry, earth, balsamic, and raw meat. Much more balanced and pleasant on the palate. Moderate finish. I wish I had enough to save it for another day because I felt that it …

More or less everything you want from a Rosso. Light but full of feminine strawberry and cherry fruit, with leather notes and a savoury bitterness at the end.

Bright ruby color. Aroma of manure at the beginning which dissipated after a while. Given enough time the nose starts to show flowers, dark cherries. Palate is a bit light, reminds me of plum juice, acidity masked the fruit and a touch of liquorice in the finish. This wine is lacking a bit of fruit character but nonetheless a great wine.

Popped and poured at Thanksgiving after our early dinner wrapped up. Regrettably -- this was the showstopper of the evening. Nose is earthy with a hint of fennel. Light, with earth and leathery notes, red fruits, and something bright -- we think a hint of granny smith apple. We vote yes, and are going back to pick up more in the post-thanksgiving sale at Kermit Lynch.

Funnily enough agree with Mr. Cooper and always feel the Rosso needs a few weeks of just sitting in the rack. I have had most of the last 7-10 vintages and often disappointed with first first bottle but they seem to get better in a short period of time after that. This has excellent spice fruit, good acidity, mid weight and a nice length. Typical well defined Sangiovese from Sesti.

allowed this to slow ox 3 hours. medium ruby. nose with glossy cherry, brush, and dust. medium bodied, medium acidity, sumptuous mouthfeel. more cherry and herbal bite on the palate finishing with a clay/limestone dryness on the edges of the tongue. mildly tannic. simple and straight, but just as it should be. worked very well with tuscan bean and sausage soup.

Decanted and consumed over six hours Drank COOL. Highly recommended! Pale burgundy in color, medium minus body Lots of berries Brambleberries, blueberries, etc. Lots of fruit Bright, young, vibrant, tastes like the nose. Medium finish. Great wine for its youth. Should get better with some age. Fantastic with pizza. GREAT QPR (+1 PT)

This wine was terrific. Bought it at the winery in Tuscany. Very caring and warm hearted family. Decanted for 1 hour and poured. Nice nose of black fruit and earth. Palate was delicious with a medium body, cherry and orange highlights, while the finish was long and smooth. Tannin has integrated well. I thought it might be too early but all the attributes of this fine wine were at hand and very recognizable. What a great value ($22) for the …

Boy is this good. Red fruited, dusty, good acid. A refreshing change of pace from so many overheated vintages in Montalcino. The freshness plays well as a Rosso - I wouldn’t want any more oak aging on this one. Yum.

Really good Rooso that we picked up in Italy with Dick and Eileen Lloyd. It was light to medium bodied, red fruit all through the finish and still a bit strong on tannin. Poured by Coravin and let the 2 glasses sit for 1/2 hour. Going to try it again tomorrow. It was a terrific accompaniment with our Chicken Parmesan and pasta with a pink sauce! A great "go to' Sangiovese for pasta, fish, veal or chicken dinner.

Quite good. I preferred this over their newly released 2013 Brunello wine. Offers a luminous garnet, bright and clear. The nose begins with loam, iron, citrus, hay, and underbrush as the background for bright, fresh red cherry and, to a lesser extent, raspberry fruit. Really good tension, balance; medium-bodied, classically-styled, this should be better in the next year or two. 14,0% abv. drink 2019 thru 2027. highly recommended https://www.ItalianWine.blog
