Bodega Vistalba Cabernet Sauvignon Tomero

Medium body and ample amounts of ripe fruit and jammy flavors. The nose shows spicy aromas of blackberries, currants, with juicy flavors of black cherries, followed up by layers of pepper and cedar. The tannins were soft, almost non-existent; something I didn’t expect from such a young cabernet. The finish is quick and clean leaving you with the faintest hints of cocoa. Good QPR at $13.

Good nose of spice, tobacco, berry cobbler. Wonderful fruit on the palate, spice, good balance and structure. Slight metallic aftertaste throws off the finish.

Super ripe, almost tomato nose. Decent structure, with some real earthiness coming in on the finish. But just a little too ripe, and alreadt declining from last time I tried this a year ago. 86-87

SF Wine Exchange (Hotel Captain Cook) : Great value cab. Shows a bit warmer climate on the nose, reminiscent of Paso Robles Cabs, almost jammy blackberries, spices, and alcohol. The palate is nice and moderately rich. Cassis, black cherry explode with dusty tannins, similar to the Malbec tasted with nicely balanced acidity. Well done, and well priced.

Wine Exchange Tasting : Very ripe red fruit on the nose, a little plummy. On the palate, sweet, ripe fruit. Juicy, some earth. A nice entry level cab. 87-88
