Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; USA (@ RW) : Lush bouquet with red berries like raspberries, cherries and dark berries. On the palate a complex wine with juicy and fresh red berries, chocolate and beautifully dosed oak. Vanilla. Many layers, Beautiful and mature wine which is not too old yet. Can be kept a few more years.

2nd day w this @viader_napa 03. Blueberries mellowed into darker fruit and leather - maybe some smoked meat & molasses without the sweet.

Quite a different experience than the other Viader proprietary reds I have been fortunate enough to drink to date. Used a venturi and some elements remained well hidden through the first small pours. After about an hour it revealed very firm structure, a nose that was like a domestic right-bank style meritage (even sans merlot - the cab frank was tougher to find than other vintages, too). Plenty of spice and dark fruit supported by firm tannins. Not the supple …

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #092; Bordeaux vs USA (By SB) : Beautiful bouquet with some pleasant rustic flavors and beautifully ripe dark forest fruits. Same on the palate, some chocolate and sweet licorice, beautiful balance between a firm dose of sweetness and beautiful acidity. Powdery tannin. A bit heat in the finish, but overall a beautiful wine which is completely ready now and the next few years.

Still a big wine and going strong. Perfect with steak. Tannins are still firm and some heat on the finish. But the palate is full of dark fruit, leather and graphite. Could certainly go longer. Drink now-2017.

Absolutely incredible. Was delicious on first pour, and became even better after letting it breathe a bit. Could lay down for quite a while longer, but drinking great now.

Opened the magnum tonight. Outrageously good. Smooth as always. Chocolate, beautiful friuit and resolved tannins. wow, wow, wow. I think this could hold longer, but the window is open.

Nicely evolved Howell mountain Napa cab. Bought from winery's library. P n P table side from mag. Dark in color, tight nose and palate that could have used a decant. Good with food at this stage, some airtime would have aided this. Drink with a decant or hold.

Dark fruit, cocoa and on the drier side but has a sweet finish. Nice but one of those wines you need to take your time with between sips. Currently too tannic.

Wine with chocolate, plum/dark cherry leathery nose, nice mouth feel, well balanced, soft on the palate and a little short on the finish.

Expressive nose black and blue fruits, licorice, and earth. Medium plus body of blackberry, cocoa, leather and red flowers. Noticeable tannins.

Tannins haven't fully integrated and at this point, don't think they well. Somewhat tight and a greenish, austere component.

Nose shows espresso, chocolate and very ripe plum. Big, fat fruit flavors from start to finish. Could use a bit more acidity and energy.

Not what it was a few years ago but still maintaining some soft fruit but melded with minerality/earthiness as with a good Claret. Nice balance on the palate with moderate weight.

Very closed and thin to start. Began to open up with time in the decanter, after 2 hours it was very nice.

We throroughly enjoyed this magnum WOTN actually. I am puttin in my notes about a week afterward, so i dont recall much of the detail, but this was very enjoyable and I will continue to buy Viader wines.

the howell mountain tannins are still there but have smoothed out...huge violet nose from the cab franc which mellowed with a little time. plenty of life on this wine. drank from Magnum which may have had something to do with it.
