Seriously corked. As I kept the bottle from the date of purchase back in 2004 (in the wine fridge), seems the cork was defective from the very beginning

Last of six purchased on release. Beautiful pale gold color with hints of green. Classic nose of lemons, lanolin, flowers, grass, verbena, and candle wax. Very rich, almost viscous on the palate, with plenty of fruit and acidity in good balance, though little complexity. All in all this was a very pleasant surprise. Of the six I purchased three went down the drain due to premox.

Sadly, despite the fact I stored this since inception, the wine is fading. There was greatness detectable, but the oxidation was well on its way to overwhelm the wine. We nearly finished it anyway... (don't judge!) ;)

Medium gold in glass. Lighter and livelier than mature white Burgundy, with lemony acidity. More honeyed and creamy than last year. I think time to drink up unless you enjoy more maderized notes than honey.

This bottle had the deep gold color of a matured white Bordeaux. Rich and creamy, with hint of old oak. More lemony than mature white Burgundy, but just as elegant. Drink soon unless stored in very cool cellar.

At 18 years, still pours light yellow. Nice nose of fresh spring flowers. On palate, refreshing citrus acidity, just starting to taste some lemon cream. Has the balance and acidity to become honeyed in one or two years.

Perfect cork, into neck, light gold. Medium bodied, slightly creamy. Very elegant and balanced. Can continue to gain body 3-5 more years.

Fill into neck. Medium gold in glass. Dry, balanced and elegant. Medium bodied. Lively acidity, minerals, yellow citrus and old oak. This was a wonderful bottle. Needed a month to calm down after I took delivery. Drink now and over next 5+ years. Should become creamy and gain body with a little more time.

Fill into neck. Light gold in glass. Fresh, wafting nose of melon, lemon, hint of oak. Much fruitier on nose than palate. Palate is fresh, lean, peach pit. Light to medium bodied. Can this still become creamy and gain body after 18 years? Fruit is gone. But balance suggests it could. Retasted after Coravin for two days. Much better very cold. Less oak, more firm palate, lemony.

A great bottle with a much cleaner and leaner definition to it than previous bottles. This balances nicely the richer, creamy elements with a zing of acidity of freshness that brings the whole wine alive. Notes of lychee, cream, lemon oil. Long long finish and thankfully lacking in any catpee sauvignon aromas.

Medium gold. Acacia flower, dill oil and, once the wine warms, honey on the nose. Honey and anise with a velvety, oily richness in the mouth. The acid is just enough. This delicate wine has aged beautifully. The aftertaste lingers and is reminiscent of herbs and an empty glass of cognac.

14 years on and it is still great white Bordeaux, deep yellow color, fresh with serous honeysuckle taste. Great wine

This was cellar since purchase and is in excellent shape. The wines has a broad structure to carry it through this period of time, fruits are still juicy and primary, a bit tropical but most obvious up front is the fact that this was still fresh and had good a acidity backbone. It is in a lovel place right now though there does not appear to be any rush to finish them.

Dinner at the White House : Light straw gold colour. Nose is warm straw and a bit of cow poo then fresh peach and white apricot. Palate is thick, oily and unctuous without being at all cloying.....peach stone, confit peach, fresh almonds, fresh honeycomb.Heady, resonant and reverberant. A great food wine that complimented some lightly spiced Thai appetisers. 91+

These whites are consistently good value and the 2001 is sitting in a lovely place right now where the richness of the fruit sits nicely with the underlying acidity. Reasonably rich, but holds it well.

89 pts.

Brilliant gold color. Wood now almost fully integrated, great length and balance with some oiliness left. Excellent - will keep at least another 5 years. Robe or brillante. Le bois est maintenant presque totalement intégré, très belle longueur et équilibre avec une bonne réserve de gras. Excellent - se gardera encore au moins 5 ans.

Topshoulder. Wet cork. Beautiful, bright, light straw color. Opens a little awkward and musty on the nose with notes of moss, rainwater and cooked vegetables. Later this wine shows reticent hints of ancient oak, vanilla, wet wool, chalky minerals and lemon juice. Also on the palate this is still surprisingly coherent, fresh acidity, bright flavour profile of wet pebbles, moss again, quite pointy and not broad shouldered. In the back, its respectable age is shining through (bit short, acidity and …

La Commanderie de Bordeaux à Vancouver - Black Tie First Growth Gala (Hawksworth) : Opened and served right away. Nice developing nose of stone fruits, cinnamon and well integrated toasty oak. Medium bodied with a rich mouthfeel, medium acidity and good length. This wine coats the mouth with almost on oily texture but finishes fairly fresh. Drinking well now and should continue to develop and may even improve a bit with 2-3 more years. Excellent. 90+

Pale yellow / greenish color. Oily and fresh at the same time - the wood is still very present but starting to integrate. Excellent, wait until 2012 for next bottle. Robe or pâle / verdâtre. A la fois frais et huileux - le bois est encore bien présent mais commence à s'intégrer. Excellent - à attendre encore jusqu'en 2012 pour la prochaine bouteille.
