Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Anderson Valley

Lighter & translucent, more or less as expected, given the appellation. Bright tart red cherries, mushroom, forest floor on the nose. Tart, slightly sour black cherries, cherry cola, clove on the palate. Fresh and bright, but somewhat one dimensional through to the finish. Good with pork tenderloin.

Subdued. Not much going on. Not good QPR.

More austere KB Pinot. While there is clearly round strawberry fruit, it’s a bit more closed even after a two hour decant. Style is almost Burgundian in style with clear notes of earth/ forest floor on the finish. While not the typical KB style, this wine is well made and good for what it is.

Medium red, clear. Lighter body. Raspberry, some bird’s-eye pepper, a bit of spice and touch of chocolate on finish. Tannins mostly integrated.

So sad...

Interesting experience with this bottle. Upon opening and pouring straight away, raspberry and mint came right away on the nose. At first taste, I felt that the alcohol was overdone. However, after drinking over the space of 4 hours, the wine settled down nicely with strawberries, red cherries and some old world spice. The initially overwhelming presence of alcohol dissipated as well. I think this wine could use a bit more time, so I think I will hold the second …

This is more Burgundian style than California. If you like Sonoma Coast, this is not going to be like that.
