Excellent QPR

Aromas of plum, oak, vanilla, dried cherry and tomatoes. The palate was the same but with some jam which became tamed at the end. With even more time in the glass the jam becomes subtle. Soft tannins and medium acidity, it was great with aged cheese and dry beef.

Chilled for 20 mins and decanted for an hour. Could have used two, as the nose was still closed when I poured. This is a big boi. Aromas of sweet cherry sauce, nutmeg, vanilla and raisin. The oak, red fruit and dried fruit meld together perfectly for a rich, concentrated aroma. On the palate there’s a burst of cherry and strawberry, with good acidity and medium tannin. The high alcohol burns and could have been better integrated. Otherwise very good …

Big, full Valpolicella in a good spot at 7 years of age but with plenty of life ahead. Deep almandine colour fading at the rim. Powerful nose shows heavy oak influence. Chocolate, leather, oregano and thyme. Juicy black plum, blackberry and black cherry. Heavy, round mouthfeel with chewy tannins, high acidity and high alcohol integrated well. Flavours match the nose with the addition of a strong mint / menthol note. Long, slightly hot finish. Drink to 2026+

Tons of fruit, herbaceous notes and all in all quite complex. Tobacco, raisin, fig, balsamic, stewed berries, leather, tar, black cherry, cracked black pepper, orange marmalade, thyme and some ink on the finish. A great food wine, would suggest decanting first
