Domaine Thomas & Fils Sancerre La Crele

I haven’t had much Sancerre with age on it. This one was pretty good. There are some light nutty and oxidative notes, but they are in the background to a solid dose of lime/citrus. Lots of acidity made it friendly with a lemon shrimp scampi dish.

Very much on downside. Got better with time, but missing something

Pale yellow color. Nose opens with a hint of pears, citrus, minerals and white flowers. Smooth, well integrated. Flavors of lemon over minerals with an interesting note of subtle vanilla on the wine. Very old world. Pleasant cleansing astringency. Would go great with oily food because it would cut through it.

Love this bottle of white. Have never had any better a white under $40. Get ready for lovely integration of fruit and zip and clean minerality. Wish I had more.

Some herbaciousness and lime. Bright and acidic. Brings to mind overripe peaches or mangos. Delicious pairing with fish tacos and good qpr.

Good, paired very well w/ C's scampi. A bit more minerality would have put this over the top, but we both thought it just a little soft, flabby. Almost had a little Chardonnay feel to it mid-palate.

Nose of honeysucke, ripe peach. Palate has a pleasant herbal zip backbone surrounded by surprising plush fruits (e.g. peach), typical citrus, and florals that kept on the pressure well after swallowing. Beautiful balance and polish and evolution/complexity that puts Australians to shame. Fruit is a bit less than prior bottles, so may have to consume within the next year. Order that fish or salad, pull out La Crele, and hold on tight!

Crisp and clean flavors of lemon lime, grapefruit, and a little herb action. This is like a grown up version of nz sb with class. Very well done.

medium clear yellow with a tinge of gold peach, tropical and citrus fruits on nose along with lots of mineral acid comes through on teh attack but with smooth almost velvety mouthfeel some mineral and stone fruits, maybe some tropical too long sharp finish nice balance and well made, not as austere as a lot of Loire SB's I've had. probably not enough fruit to be a real crowd pleaser without food

Both racy and juicy at the same time. Love it.

Yellow with some green. This leads with ripe citrus and only then do greener, herbal tones appear. Rich, full, even a bit sweet, but it pulls itself together with a good mineral finish that mostly makes up for its heft and lower acidity. Full of flavor, that's for sure, just not classic balance in that it is fatter and softer than would be ideal.
