Wow !! What a surprise. I didn’t think this transition wine from Sparky would have aged so well. Consumed over two days; sharp red color, aromas of vanilla, flavors of black cherry & mocha, with a short finish. Very few signs of deterioration, good color and fruit flavor. This is clearly a mature wine, but very similar to the Costco wine I enjoyed 15 years ago when released. A little piece of history between Marquis Philips and Mollydooker.

Better, but still very clumsy.

Going down hill. Flavors and aromas are falling apart even more. Not enjoyable at all.

Incredibly dense, massive fruit and oak, sharp and bitter tannins, little complexity. Have to drink in small sips. More concentrated than most port. After a few hours starts to settle down just a bit, some mineral poking through on nose and palate. I had hoped this would show improvement, but it hasn't changed. My conclusion: an over-extracted mess that lacks any sense of harmony. A couple more in the cellar that will stay for a long time.

I liked this wine a lot! Enough that I have bought about 2 cases. For the price, it's close to perfect if you like a big wine with lots of finish.

Super concentrated, but clumsy and disjointed and hard to drink. No improvement from first bottle.

Very rich and dense. Dark flavors. A bit one-dimensional. A good wine for the price, but for a few dollars more, I prefer something like Thorn-Clarke's Shotfire.

A rich BIG wine with lots of fruit up front, but well balanced in the mouth with a smooth long finish. A great buy that will pair well with many standard meals, and deserving of a spot on the 'just grab a bottle' shelf. Very little expense for a lot to look forward to with this one.

As other have said, a big fruit bomb but not over the top. Nice tannins on the long finish. Quite a balanced wine (more so than I had expected), and an absolute steal at the Costco price.

Lots of fruit as noted, and high alcohol (15.5%). I agree with the others that for the price it rates very high.

Huge fruit bomb, but I loved it's full mouth filling smokey feel and aftertaste. Will definately buy more for the Cosco price.

Huge Shiraraz-- it says 15.5 % on the bottle and it tastes every bit of that! This is made for Costco by the people at Marquis Philips and I think it is every bit as good as the wine they produce under their own labels. Very dark inky Shiraz color with jammy, blackberry nose. On the palate, it is quite "hot" due to the alcohol content and a little bit acidic. Not quite enough fruit to achieve good balance, though …

Monster wine, super concentrated, off the scale. Still one dimensional, disjointed and unfocused at this point. I enjoyed for half a glass then lost interest. Not a food wine, but too much on it's own. Tried to air it out for 3 days to gauge how it will age, didn't see much change, so not sure what will happen. Nonetheless, intrigued me enough to buy 4 more and into storage for 3-5 years.
