Bought this at the same tasting as JonathanNYC below. I also loved the approachability of this young nebbiolo. Nose has raspberry bright fruit, a hint of chocolate, some floral notes. Medium body, tangy and great with food (eggplants stuffed with ground lamb), raspberry and cranberry with a nice lingering bitterness, the finish is where the nebbiolo heft makes itself known. Agree that maybe its a bit hot.

After airing this out and giving this a chance: a good but not great version of this. Everything is in place, but it's lacking a little personality, a little depth, a little verve.

Just had a taste but this was a big disappointment given some of the truly amazing vintages this bottling has under its belt. The fruit, while not being heavy, had a strong, strange cherry sucking-candy flavor. Not something you expect or want to encounter from these parts.

I didn't get much from the small, just-opened tasting pour: not typically closed, but it wasn't showing what it has. The 2002 later in the evening was lovely, esp. after having been open (and schlepped around town) but not decanted for five hours or so.

Agree with a previous taster that the tasting pour on this wine was practically an insult: and "no seconds, go away, because I need this one bottle to last longer than all the other $100 wines which are being poured here tonight". Very strange, I thought, even for--I admit it--a free tasting where I am owed nothing. Disagree with previous tasters, though, as I think this is a marvelous wine. I found pretty plum and cranberry on the nose, with …

Has a lot of muddy funk on the nose, very Old World. Has a tartness and a bit of a creamy feel to it. A good buy. 89-90+

It's a little fierce to start, but after about 45 mins in the decanter it fleshes out. It isn't quite as delicious as 2002. But then what is? Bright red fruits, small berries, dusty, almost chalky tannins. When you need a Burg fix but can't afford one, this is more than fine.
