Un c9p sur le fruit, petits fruits, candy, cannelle, épices. Assez léger en comparaison à d’autres c9p, moins garrigue que charvin. Bon mais trop cher pour le rendu.

Oxidised - sadly enough to completely ruin the wine… Went down the drain 😩. My score reflects the potential this wine could have had.

Grenache tasting, wine #10. Made from Grenache blend with 10% Mourvedre, old school traditional farming, indigenous yeast, aged for 5 years in old oak. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of plums, black pepper, bacon, earth, smoke, dried rose petals, leather, hint of garrigue. Medium+ body, rich and concentrated yet refined and elegant with impeccably managed medium acidity and high yet fine sticky tannins.

An Epic Summer Wine Weekend - Year 4; 6/27/2025-6/29/2025 (Conestogo Lake) : [Tasted Single Blind] This pours medium to light ruby with flecks of purple toward the rim. The nose is tight on opening grudgingly opening to show plum, violets, perfume, seaweed, peppercorn, Herbs de Provence, and charcoal. Again the nose was grudging and reluctant to come out here, and really could use further age to allow it to unfurl. The palate enters on broad and plummy fruit with medium …

I really like this wine; lovely nose with wild herbs, dark fruits, violet, hints of forest floor, a touch of fennel; elegant and yet powerful at the same time with great concentration; still feels well balanced; a Chateauneuf that pinot drinkers can appreciate

Second bottle of this and both have been quite enjoyable for me; I don't drink a lot of Chateauneuf anymore, but Bonneau re-opened my eyes to what I used to enjoy; starts with some lovely red fruit and turns more black with air, lovely earthy garrigue notes, tobacco, menthol, a hint of white pepper, some floral notes; palate is big, but balanced with more acidity than most Chateauneuf, plenty of tannic structure, and good concentration. Very good now with food, …

Wonderful. Opened for four+ hours and then decanted for another hour. A bit funky before the decant but the hour decant blew the funk off. The wine is in a great place now; don’t anticipate it maturing further from here but not at risk of decline in the next few years at least. Wish I had more of this in my cellar. Wine like this is what it is all about.

High-end Rhone Dinner at a friend's house. (Hollywood) : Ruby color with slight garnet. Nose is peppery, with olive, red spicy fruit and a bit rustic. Full body, great acidity and long finish. This showed much more opulent than the 1988 we had in the same flight.

Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL) : Archetypal CdP. Slightly sweet with its ripe fruit, and more black than red. Heavyset but not actually heavy. A bit of barnyard here, this is pretty much the way CdP ought to be. Accessible now, but certainly plenty of potential ahead.

Rhône or Nôwhere 2.0 (Malcolm, NE) : I opened this bottle of the 2013 “Cuvée Marie Beurrie” the day before and poured into a ship’s decanter for a couple of hours before returning to the bottle. In the glass, just, wow. This is developing still with the darkest brambles and stone with purple flowers and garrigue. This is so beguiling, so deep with tannins and acid for days. Full of power and grace and stunner with cassoulet, Toulouse sausage and …

Saturday late night at Maison Dakota. Wife asked for one more bottle to cap the night off! Pop and poured. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of fragrant stewed red plums, licorice, garrigue, nutmeg oil. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of garrigue, licorice, sweet stewed red plums, very sweet red cherries, sweet spices, …

Peach Farm. Great nose, as always, but this bottle was better and fresher on the palate than ones in 2012 and 2014. Not at all tired. Hopefully the remaining bottle is like this, but will drink it before long.

First time with this cuvee and I really liked it. The nose was more red fruited and floral than the Celestins I have tried. Felt more typical of grenache, but still had some earthy and herbal notes; the balance on the palate was excellent and the finish was delicious. Doesn't seem like it will age for a really long time, but should be good for the next decade.

Quite drinkable but no fireworks here. In fact wine seems a bit tired and really needs to be consumed. Storage issues? 89 if I ranked it, but I’ll call it defective.

I am coming back to this after a few years. Opened for 2.5 hours. Color is deep garnet with some orange showing on the rim. On the nose: Strawberry, cherry, licorice and some herbs. On the palette: Strawberry, lots of dry tannins, black licorice, cherry , spice notes and herbs. This is really getting good. It is very elegant.

Classic old school CdP. A nice contrast to many of the “modern styled” overly alcoholic wines hyped by some critics. Red fruit with forest floor and garigue. Strawberries and red licorice. Nice freshness and acidity. Tannins are a bit drying on the finish.

La Tablee: Bonneau retrospective (Mercerie) : The only wine in the flight that was really in drinking window and I'd say calling it in drinking window is prob being a bit kind. More apt is starting to get there. Very well done wine. There's a structure to this that is very pleasing. It's again a bit on the bigger side. A touch less expressive than I think it will be with some more time. But getting there.

La Tablee: Bonneau retrospective (Mercerie) : And while I had young many times in my note on the '14, this came across as even younger. A bit more alcohol. Very fruit dominant. Not close to ready. We'll be holding on ours.

A farewell to Tooch (Chicago, IL) : If more CdP tasted like this, I would probably drink more CdP. Yes, it's a big and brash wine, with broad shoulders and chock full of flavour, but it's also real flavour, not like that high-fructose corn syrup garbage that Parker passes off as Chateauneuf. There is a varied array of fruit here, from tart cranberries to ripe plums, and that assortment adds plenty of complexity to this wine. Surprisingly on the palate, …

Tooch Going Away Dinner (TDS) : Big, primary and almost grapey nose is quite primary with notions of herb and licorice. Palate is impressively concentrated yet light on its feet. It's a bit coarse on the mid-palate and finish, suggesting it needs time to soften. Lots of licorice and herbs in the finish. Upside as this matures and gains nuance.

Grenache with Panache (New York, NY) : Sandwiched in between a vertical of Rayas and a flight of SQN grenache, this served as a great transition. My first time with Bonneau and based on the experience will surely not be the last. Similar to Rayas, this sports a very fragrant and perfumed nose. On the palate, the fruits are darker and a bit more masculine in the style than the Rayas wines, perhaps more forest floor, and darker berries, with …

Grenache with Panache (Friends apt) : A little Bonneau sandwiched between Rayas and SQN. I am still learning my way around these wines which continue to be very interesting. This is more on the savory side. Lots of leather and spice. Again an interesting structure to it (I guess maybe part of the appeal of the Grenache grape in CdP where it has lots of flavor without requiring much heaviness). Very nice.

Really quite deeply flavored with dark fruits and an animalistic funk in a good way. There are mature flavors of tar, dark spices, garrigue and black forest that give way to a concentrated finish with notes of char, black minerals and damp earth. A black bull of a wine.

The magical combination of CdP that drinks like Burgundy, and why I like this cuvee better than the Bonneau "luxury" cuvees. Medium bodied with depth and persistence of red fruit and perfect balance along with a cinnamon/spice bouquet that blind I would have guessed as a mature Grand Cru Vosne. Loads of complexity and in a great place - mature now but with years of life ahead.

Bonneau Tasting (Graz, Austria) : Now we are talking! Medium density, maturity beginning to show on nose, a refined yet dense inky fruit, verging on burnt fruit, like the concentrated gooey stuff around the edge of a pie dish. Great concentration on palate, inky brooding sour cherry, high acidity, soft tannin, may have a little age. Exceptional.
