Remainder from a bottle opened last night, from well shaped plastic pool stems. Lush dark black and blue fruit, kirsch, cigar and crushed gravel. Quite a bit of heat on the finish, more so (I think) than last night, and lacking the purity noted from last falls bottle; maybe stem-related. While my last bottle there's no rush to drink this if you have several.

Incredibly enjoyable with an hour of air. Apologies for the lack of detail that I hope to share tomorrow

This is a right bank-ish blend crafted by Kirk Venge. Cab franc/merlot. Estate grown grapes from their small vineyard in St. Helena. Slow ox’d for an hour, served alongside filet mignon. The cab franc dominates the nose and initial sips. Spicy blackberries, violets, hints of clove. While there are firm tannins and great tension on the mid palate, this is rich and smooth. Dried cherries and sweet oak with vanilla add layers.

Drank with New Year's Eve dinner of surf and turf with sous vide filet and lobster. This was incredibly good and possibly the best pairing with filet we've ever had over two-plus decades of drinking high end domestic reds. This was rich and deep and dark and layered and absolutely exceptional. Wish I had more detailed notes but I'm writing this the next morning, with a cup of coffee. This wine was a joy for all at the table!

2021 Napa - June 9-12 : CF/Merlot blend, lovely on the palate, good now but thinks this integrates even more and gets better in a couple of years.

Dark, brooding nose with tar and tight wood. The fruit is dark on the palate and while it seems dense,‘it’s not heavy. Nearly 4 hours after opening its well-balanced with a silky finish that envelops the tongue; the dark fruit that seems crisp and pure, characteristics I don’t think I’ve used in my 2700+ notes yet posted. Not sure I understand the drinking window for this but glad I have several more bottles
