Antigal, 1 Uno Malbec, Mendoza

Lots more fruit than the 2019 we opened just before (see my note there). We preferred the 2019 for its depth and spice notes, but this is probably more typical Malbec.

Fruity, woody, slightly citric/bitter

Red fruit violet smoke vanilla

Standard Malbec, medium bodied--well balanced but not much complexity or depth

Nose - Chocolate covered strawberries Taste - same as the nose, just more subtle. Consistent all the way through.

Alright but nothing special

Dark ruby, with blackberries and smoke on the nose. On the palate, robust and full-bodied with notes of blackberry, plums, leather, dark chocolate, smoke, and oak. Firm tannins and long finish--good QPR. A little more aging might improve its profile.

Wine Rating Methodology 96-100: One of the most enjoyable wines I have ever tasted. I would not hesitate to open this wine for any Master of Wine. 91-95: Extremely enjoyable wine that I would drink and buy again. Fantastic to open up for those who appreciate wine. 85-90: Decent to good wine. Weekday bottle you don’t feel guilty about not finishing. Dark flowers, blue and black fruit, with a soft, dusty minerality, and light peppery spice notes. Randomly picked up for $9, good QPR.
