La Soufrandiere, Macon, Vinzelles Le Clos de Grand-Pere

Melon and pineapple and apple on the nose with a little wet stone follow thru. On the palate the wine is fairly oppulent in its fruitiness but not terribly complex- a little too ripe. The acidity is lacking and the varietal typicity just isn't present. None of the blind tasters could peg region or varietal. Missing some focus, but not a total write-off. Though a bit expensive for what it is. I have had other, better showings from this producer.

Bret Brothers/La Soufrandiere Visit (Vinzelles, France) : This shares the rich, ripe entry with the other 2 '09s tasted, but of these wines, it has the best depth and excellent acidity to buffer the ripe fruit.
