Little bit darker, deeper color for Barolo; up front and more primary with vibrant forest berries, earth, clove. medium rich mouthfeel, more rustic (and younger} than the '05 ARPEPE but really paired well with the radiatore-sausage pasta at Alimento. The ArPePe went very well with the slightly lighter and more subtle safron agnolotti filled with braised pork shank. Alimento w/Ggg

-- bottle opened 27 hours before this note -- -- tasted non-blind over two days; TN from Day 2 -- NOSE: tar; cherries; stony mineral; moderately expressive; hint of golden tobacco; cherry licorice. BODY: slightly hazy, rustic, ruby color of medium-light depth; medium-light bodied. TASTE: pretty tannic on Day 1, and also on Day 2. no[t funky; mostly tannin; red-fruited; medium to medium+ acidity; 14.5% alc not overtly noticeable; certainly nothing I would call "modern" in style. I like it, …

Utregs Wijnhuis Piemonte tasting (Utrecht) : Quite nice, very approachable barolo, but needs time to develop a bit more complexity. Interesting to see how this will be in 5-10 years time

Opened in the bottle 3-4 hours but ready after 30 minutes. Maybe the most approachable 16 Barolo or even young Barolo I’ve had. Full bodied with moderate acidity and dense texture. Ripe plums, tar, roses, minerals, vanilla, and orange zest. Still plenty of time but great now.

Classic Barolo tar and roses coupled with exquisite cherry fruits. Great balance and proportion. Deep but light on its feet. Has some Serralunga iron punctuating the long finish.

Well folks, I opened one early to get a glimpse of '16 Barolo. I'm behind the curve on buying and this bottle helps affirm that I need to play catch up. Hard to believe this is drinking so well out of the gates. Sure, a bit tight and muted on PnP, but still showing so much on the nose that it was hard to put down. It only built and unfolded more and more over three nights, gaining a bit …

-- cork pulled at least 90 minutes before tasting -- -- tasted blind over approx. 40 min. -- NOSE: sugary strawberry/watermelon mix; clean; a touch savory; hints of mineral and red licorice. BODY: light garnet color of medium-light depth with slight bricking; medium-light bodied. TASTE: tannic; red-fruited; Barbaresco? 2016 Barbaresco? I like this a lot, but it *needs* lots of time. My second-favorite of the tasting, and bought some after. Rating: 4/5.
